BAY VILLAGE, Ohio – Bay Village police officers received an unusual call when a giant inflatable jack-o’-lantern was found blocking traffic at an intersection. WJW reported.

Dashcam footage posted on the police Facebook page shows an officer arriving at the scene where out-of-control Halloween decorations have caused a backlog. When the police officer tried to stop the pumpkin, it briefly landed on him before he managed to free himself. With the help of other officials, the dinghy was safely returned to its owner.

The department humorously assured the public that “no officers (or pumpkins) were harmed during the event.” Wind gusts of 25 to 30 miles per hour were reported in the area overnight, likely causing the decorations to come loose. According to the report, Home Depot recommends following the manufacturer’s instructions for securing inflatable boats in high winds.

“Sometimes you can’t make things like that up!” One Facebook user commented on the post.

“In my best Gene Wilder voice… ‘It’s alive!'” another added.

Under the proposed program, Irwin police officers would receive a $2,500 bonus when they join and an additional $2,500 if they stay with the department for two years
