“Touring 101” was written by longtime booking agent Bruce Houghton, who is also a Berklee professor, publisher of Hypebot and senior advisor to Bandsintown.

This short, four-lesson Berklee Coursera course is based on key lessons and strategies from Houghton’s popular book Berklee Online Touring 101 Graduation and certificate course.

“Live performances are where most artists earn 80-90% of their income, especially in the streaming age,” says Houghton. “That’s why it’s important that they and the managers and agents who work with them learn how to do it well.”

Coursera Berklee’s free self-guided Touring 101 lessons include:

  • The basics of touring
  • Create a great experience with your fans
  • Get going! Choose a touring model that suits you
  • Marketing your performances and tours

Users who pay a small fee receive a more complete experience and a certificate of completion. Berklee also offers other courses on Coursera as well as from its renowned Berklee online degree and certificate program.
