The fall anime season is finally here and with it, much to the delight of fans, the premiere of Science SARU’s highly anticipated animated adaptation by Yukinobu Tatsu Dandadan.

Unfortunately, one such fan, an anime YouTuber named Chibi Reviews, became the target of harassment from Western viewers due to his enjoyment of the series’ actual content.

Originally published via Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ app, Dandadan follows high school students Ken Takakura and Momo Ayase, the former believing in aliens but not ghosts, and the latter believing in ghosts but not aliens, as they try to prove their respective perspectives to the other.

As part of this competition, the two begin visiting various locations where such supernatural activity is said to have occurred – and surprisingly, these visits eventually lead to Momo being kidnapped by real aliens and Ken being possessed by a real ghost.

As a result, Momo develops psychic powers and Ken forms a pseudo-partnership with his possessive spirit, gaining the ability to temporarily gain incredible physical abilities (but as an unfortunate side effect, at the cost of his testicles, which he then loses). attempts to hunt across Japan, which they then use against the aliens to stop them from taking over Earth.

And it was this comedy-action shonen series that led to Chibi Reviews finally becoming the enemy of online life.

Below DandadanWhen it premiered on October 3, the YouTuber shared a clip from the episode, in which a member of the Serpo — an all-male alien race that seeks human reproductive organs in order to repopulate their species — attempts to use their intentionally phallic reproductive tool to Momo’s “banana” and uterus.

Chibi Reviews said of the clip: “The animators didn’t have to put in that much effort for this scene.”

From then on, numerous social media users – all of whom are clearly unable to distinguish fiction from reality – viewed Chibi Reviews’ tweet as advocating sexual assault, which in turn they used as justification to harass the YouTuber and to threaten.

Chibi Reviews shared a screenshot of a tweet from @DUzetten in which they received thousands of likes for the statement “Petition to stone this guy” and claimed, “7,000 people are threatening to kill me over an anime post.” I believe I am loved.”

However, despite his further clarifications that he simply admired the animation of the scene and that the series also contained numerous such “unpleasant” scenes with Momo, the harassment continued to increase.

He shared a collage of various tweets that showed him the way – including gems like “We need to bring back killing annoying people,” “Please God hit this man so he can finally disappear from my timeline,” “You are the most disgusting creature, “I’ve ever seen” and “We need to stone this guy” – Chibi explained: “The ‘normal people’, all of them.” I’ll keep posting whatever I want. When thousands of you bubble over my breath, it fills me with unimaginable joy of life.”

A few hours later, Chibi Reviews announced that not only had the harassment not stopped, but that its critics had also crossed a very real line.

“And someone officially falsified my true information,” he wrote on Oct. 5. “They also made fun of my dead brother who committed suicide. You know who you are and I’m going to talk to my lawyer now.”

“Those who exploited me to gain influence that contributed to all of my personal information being doxxed,” he said. “You know who you are. You are not good people. I have received screenshots and will use them as evidence. You actually want to harm me. You better be prepared to face the consequences in court.”

It eventually emerged that while the original doxxers had launched their campaign on Twitter, others on their side later moved the campaign’s organizing efforts to the sojay.party forums, whereupon they openly documented their exploits and deployment hacked into Chibi Reviews’ personal DeviantArt account and uploaded actual, genuine child sexual exploitation (CSEM) materials.

The information uncovered by the hackers related to his YouTube, Patreon and personal social media accounts, as well as his social security number, according to relevant posts.

Interestingly, when it comes to doxxing, soyjack.party’s official rules state: “While doxxing is generally discouraged, in most cases it is considered acceptable by the user base.” However, the administration reserves the right to intervene if she believes that a dox is unjustified or crosses a line.”

Chibi Reviews itself took screenshots of some relevant soyjack.party posts and eventually stated on Twitter, in response to a critic who laughed at its concerns, “I hope you know I have proof that you all are into bullshit.” “Have fun with the FBI.”

“Also, more proof,” he added, sharing a screenshot in which a user admits, “I hacked into his DeviantArt, but nothing interesting.” I edited his bio as a gem [an online slang term for a ‘quality post’, as opposed to when one posts ‘coal’].

“And Deviantart even terminated the account because it violated their terms of service,” he finally revealed. “Date and time at the top right!”

“Anyway, please fuck off,” he concluded.”
