Sentinels, Majettes play – Stars over Cardinals | News, sports, jobs

The Minot North girls volleyball team has six games left. They begin working through four of the six home games by hosting Minot High in one today “Hide Cancer Night” with a clear theme as both Minot North and Minot High work together to champion the cause and raise funds for local families battling cancer.

Minot North (5-10, 7-20) sits eighth in the Western Dakota Association (WDA) standings, tied with Williston, which has the same record. Cadence Shipman leads the team in WDA stat categories with 145 kills, 16 blocks, 108 digs, 14 aces and four assists. Brynn Francis had 203 assists, Kate Weishaar recorded 132 digs and the team won 19 sets and lost 36 sets.

Minot High (11-3, 16-11) is in third place in the WDA standings, one game behind Bismarck High and one game ahead of Bismarck Legacy. The Majettes still have seven games left, four of which are away games. They won 35 sets and lost 16 in the WDA match. Leah Walter has 89 kills while Sydney Aberle and Kynsli Gillmore have 81 kills each. Eve Knutson has 17 blocks while Aberle has 16 blocks. McKinzie Dufner has 359 assists while Reagan Terrel has 155 digs for Minot High. Dufner also has 27 aces, while Everet Deschamp has 24 aces for the team in the WDA statistical records.

The two local teams are aiming for victory for more reasons than just bragging rights. Staying active in the win column until the end of the season will result in a better ranking in the WDA tournament.

Bottineau 3, Nedrose 0

The Stars traveled from Bottineau to face the Cardinals at Nedrose High. The visitors made the most of the trip by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-17, defeating the host Lady Cardinals.

Kyra Beckman had 12 kills, 14 digs and seven aces to lead Bottineau in the game. Josie Wintermute and Beckman each had two blocks at the net. Grace Hahn had 11 assists while Avery Keith contributed five assists and six aces. Kaitlin Moen recorded 11 digs while Rylee Brennan had five kills in the win.

For the Lady Cardinals, Lilly Nelson had 13 kills, 15 digs, three aces and one block in action. Kenna Huff had seven kills and Brynley Bertsch recorded 15 assists. Cambree Lemasters recorded nine digs while Mahalle Lizotte added two aces to the game.

Nedrose hosts Surrey on Monday, October 21, while Bottineau hosts Des Lacs-Burlington on the same day.
