According to CBS Sports sources, the NWSL’s Boston franchise finally has a name: BOS Nation Football Club. The franchise, set to join the league in 2026, will unveil its new name and logo on Tuesday. The official launch of the name can be linked to “TooManyBalls.com,” a placeholder for an extensive marketing campaign around Boston to promote the new club name and new colors of green and black.

There were some hints of the launch on social media and some retailers already had links to merchandise, but those links were removed following CBS Sports’ reporting on Monday.

NWSL Boston was awarded the expansion contract in September 2023. They had the longest preparation period ever for an inaugural season. It will be the 15th NWSL franchise managed by Boston Unity Soccer Partners (BUSC), an all-female core ownership group led by an executive team with local ties.

“I am excited to expand the NWSL’s footprint and continue its transformative growth as we return to Boston, one of the world’s most iconic sports cities,” said NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman in an initial announcement.

“We are very proud to welcome Boston Unity Soccer Partners to our ownership group. They bring with them an impressive list of business leaders who are committed to continuing Boston’s legacy of athletic excellence and delivering a winning team to a very passionate fan base.”

After a special fan celebration Tuesday at Dick’s House of Sport in Boston, fans can gather with official colors, logos and a “Too Many Balls” campaign.
