Pokemon leaks have completely ruined Typhlosion for fans

Key insights

  • Pokemon developer Game Freak experienced a major data leak over the weekend that revealed key details about upcoming projects as well as some bizarre and dark stories.
  • There are numerous stories circulating on social media about Pokémon having children with humans, including a rather unsavory one about Typhlosion.
  • Typhlosion fans aren’t doing too well at the moment, their favorite Pokémon is now completely ruined and many will never be able to see him the way he was again.

Pokemon developer Game Freak suffered one of the most catastrophic data breaches in recent memory over the weekend, almost as bad as the one that hit Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games in December last year. Just like with Insomniac, detailed plans for Game Freak’s titles in development have been streaming onto social media, including details on Generation 10, Pokemon Legends ZA, and a project codenamed Synapse.

However, in stark contrast to Insomniac, much, much stranger information made its way onto social media – things that explained the origins of Pokémon as a whole and other wild concepts. Some stories supposedly written by Game Freak employees were of particular interest to fans of the series. These are detailed stories about people and Pokémon having children together, both consensually and violently.

Typhlosion will never be the same again.

These stories make for some pretty bizarre reading, although a story about a Typhlosion is arguably one of the worst of all. It was first shared by Twitter user GireumNewTownand tells the story of a girl who gets lost in the forest while collecting firewood. As night approaches, the girl encounters a Typhlosion and stays in its cave until morning, but the Typhlosion eventually forces her to stay, removes her memories of her family and friends, and then takes a child with her.

It is extremely criminal behavior, made worse by the fact that the story never explicitly states how old the girl is, although there is suspicion that she is not referred to as a woman. It’s also behavior you wouldn’t expect from a Pokemon as popular as Typhlosion, as the creature is the final evolution of one of the most popular starters in the entire series, and one that many fans are now having to come to terms with the fact that this story is their favorite Pokemon ruined.

Typhlosion fans are currently getting through this crisis by posting about it and expressing their sadness over how their boy betrayed them. Twitter user That_One_Ahmed pretty much sums up what it feels like to be a Typhlosion fan right now and shares a picture of a tortured Dragon Ball character. Others are slowly coming to terms with it Typhlosion receives the Vaporeon treatmentand if you don’t know what that means, bless your innocent heart.

Then there are the Typhlosion fans who act like none of this happened. They stand up for their sweet boy in the face of these folklore stories. To be fair, as Twitter user Lutraviolet points outalongside some very nice artwork from Hisuian Typhlosion, this story is not event canon, although it will always remain in the back of the minds of Typhlosion fans who use it in battle. I think I’ll choose Totodile from now on.
