Miami-Dade County public housing waiting list opens Tuesday – NBC 6 South Florida

Miami-Dade County’s public housing waiting list opens Tuesday to eligible applicants seeking safe, affordable housing.

The initiative provides a critical opportunity for eligible low-income families, the elderly and people with disabilities to apply for housing, but only if applicants meet the necessary requirements.

It is important to note that applicants place themselves on a waiting list and, if they meet the requirements, enter a selection group generated at random. This time only 5,000 applications will be accepted.

“We are passionate about ensuring that every resident of Miami-Dade County has access to safe, affordable housing. That’s why we’re working around the clock to find solutions to help our residents afford to live in our county,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “By opening this waiting list, we are taking meaningful action to support our most vulnerable populations – families, seniors and people with disabilities – and ensure they have the opportunity for stable housing that provides the foundation for a better quality of life.”

If you’re interested in applying, here’s everything you need to know:
