Google Play Store makes app installation easier with an always-visible Install button.

If you own an Android phone, you probably spend a lot of time on the Google Play Store, where there are tons of apps and games to choose from. However, app lists can sometimes get so long that the Install button disappears and you’re forced to scroll up, which can be frankly annoying. Well, an upcoming change in the Google Play Store aims to fix this problem by making the Install button a permanent fixture in app listings.

A header that remains visible and easily accessible at all times

A recent report suggests that Google Play Store version 43.1.19 contains code that points to a feature that keeps the header in place in app listings. This means that the Install button will still remain visible while you scroll through the app details. The header contains important information about the app, including its icon, name, developer, average rating in the Play Store, and whether it contains advertising. You’ll also discover a handy Install button that lets you quickly download the app directly to your device, as well as a drop-down menu that lets you install the app on your other gadgets. And the best part? This header is preserved so you can always easily access it.

It may seem like a small change, but I think this change could really benefit app developers. Why? Well, while a lengthy App Store listing keeps users well-informed, it inadvertently penalizes developers for their thoroughness. If the Install button is stuck at the top, the further you scroll down, the more likely you are to jump instead of scrolling back up to click that button. If the install button had a fixed position, users could easily download the app after checking out the details, ultimately increasing conversions for developers who invest time in creating rich, informative listings.

In other news from the Google Play Store, there is talk that it could soon introduce tablet-optimized apps that are also compatible with cars. Additionally, the search feature is getting a new place on Android tablets and foldable devices.
