Suspect sought in officer-involved shooting in Keysville

KEYSVILLE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Columbia County Force Use Team is assisting the Burke County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of an incident that authorities say resulted in an officer-involved shooting Sunday evening.

On Oct. 13 around 9:45 p.m., Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to reports of a large party on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Keysville.

Upon arrival, officers said they encountered a large crowd and began dispersing those in attendance.

During that operation, officers observed a male subject driving recklessly in a vehicle on the roadway, reportedly leaving skid marks, officials said.

According to authorities, as officers approached to clarify the situation, the unknown person accelerated and drove directly toward one of the officers who was directing traffic.
