Three of the city’s most significant institutions – the Gamble House, the Pasadena Museum of History and the USC Pacific Asia Museum – offer free admission and ensure a diverse day of art, history and architectural experiences.

It’s a fitting start to a week that culminates with ArtNight, which offers free experiences at cultural institutions across the city.

On Sunday, the Gamble House and the Pasadena Museum of History are co-hosting a special event called “Crafting Memories” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This joint initiative aims to engage visitors of all ages through a variety of activities and exhibitions. No reservations are required for this event, making it easily accessible to the public.

At Gamble House, visitors can enjoy self-guided tours of the first and second floors, participate in Musical Storytime with the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, and engage in craft activities with Gloria Newton of Remainders Creative Reuse. The venue will also feature a DeLorean car display and a library tent for relaxation and storytelling.

Meanwhile, the Pasadena Museum of History will present its “Lights, Camera, Action!” exhibit. “Hollywood Magic in Pasadena” exhibition. Visitors can take small, self-guided tours of the 1906 Fényes Mansion and the Finnish Folk Art Museum, watch classic silent films with free popcorn, and take part in a zoetrope-making workshop. Music by Gypsy Jambo creates the atmosphere.

Food options are available, with food truck Kogi Tacos Por Vida stationed at Gamble House from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Visitors are also welcome to bring picnics to both the Gamble House and the Pasadena Museum of History.

For those interested in Asian and Pacific Island art and culture, the USC Pacific Asia Museum offers free admission as part of its regular “Free 2nd Sunday@PAM” program. Located approximately 0.3 miles from the Pasadena Convention Center, the museum houses a collection of more than 15,000 objects spanning over 5,000 years. The museum is dedicated exclusively to the art and culture of Asia and the Pacific Islands and normal opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m
