Beef tallow trend, Anne Hathaway’s interview and “breadwinner”

Beef tallow skincare trend

If you thought Kim Kardashian’s ‘infamous vampire facial’ was intense, buckle up: Beef tallow – aka fat from cows – apparently is the latest TikTok skincare trend. Yes, people smear their faces with McDonald’s once-secret french fry ingredient. To be fair, the creamy substance has reportedly been used as a moisturizer for centuries. But TikTokers admit it the “miracle worker”. With the elimination of acne, an evening tone and smoothing of wrinkles. One person even went so far as to call it “nature’s Botox.” The obvious questions here: Where do you get beef tallow? (In case you aren’t brave enough to do it yourselfsome indie brands sell it online.) Will you smell like a burger? (One influencer swears by it “smells completely neutral“, but others have warned of a…meaty smell.) And perhaps most pressingly: Does it actually work? While beef tallow contains some beneficial nutrients, Dermatologists warn that it is not approved or regulated by the FDA for skin care. This means it’s better to stick with prescription or over-the-counter products.

Of course, beef tallow isn’t the only skin care trend in recent years that’s causing a stir. We would like to remind you: the salmon sperm facial recommended by Jennifer Aniston (However, Aniston admits that the entire extraction process is still “unclear” to her); “Cult-favorite” caviar masksthat “take a little getting used to” (I wonder why); Snail mucin serum (it’s apparently “not as disgusting as you might think”); And “Menstrual masking“, and that’s exactly what it sounds like (read: incredibly messy). There was also the Japanese-inspired “Facial with bird poop” (respectfully, no) and the time when Kate Beckinsale did the “Penis facial” (we don’t even know where to start). Of course, we can’t help but wonder what’s next. Facial sprays made from Moo Deng’s water? Who knows, but we’ll stick with sun protection.
