Large pile of cash left next to body of Philadelphia shooting victim – NBC10 Philadelphia

Someone shot a man with a large sum of money multiple times on Thursday night, then left him dead on a sidewalk in North Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said that despite all the money, robbery did not appear to be the motive for the fatal shooting along North 15th Street – near West Erie Avenue – in the Tioga neighborhood just before 9 p.m. on October. 10. 2024.

Police officers arrived at the scene to find Thomas Debose, of the nearby Hunting Park neighborhood, bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds to his body, police said. Officers quickly rushed the 37-year-old man to a nearby hospital, but it was too late as he died shortly after arrival.

Investigators said they found evidence that at least nine shots were fired at Debose.

Police found “a large amount of cash” and other personal items near Debose, Pace said.

“However, it appears that robbery was not the motive,” Pace said.

Investigators hoped the surveillance videos could help them track down the killer.

As with all Philadelphia murders, a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with Debose’s murder. Tips can be given to homicide detectives at 215-686-3334 or submitted anonymously at 215-686-8477 or online.

Despite this deadly escape, murders in Philadelphia are down significantly year-over-year. As of Friday, at least 201 people have been killed in 2024, according to Philadelphia police. That’s 51% less than the same period last year and the lowest number of murders this year since 2014.
