Pre-order leaks for the Sonos Arc Ultra give us an imminent release date

The Sonos Arc Ultra is truly the worst-kept secret in technology at the moment, with everything leaking out of the new soundbar like water from a paper bucket. Just a few days ago, Best Buy seemed to announce that it would be priced at $999, and now more retailers may have told us the release date.

Belgian retailers Fnac, Vandenborre and MediaMarkt spotted by Redditors appeared to have pre-order pages visible for the Sonos Arc Ultra and Sonos Sub 4, promising an October 29, 2024 release date for both.

The pre-orders offer a price of 999 euros for the soundbar and 899 euros for the Sonos Sub 4 – all in line with expectations.

October 29th is just around the corner, so we may get official information about the new soundbar soon – early next week will be two weeks after the launch date, so I wouldn’t be surprised if something arrived then.

In addition to this release date reveal, a slew of other images purporting to be of the Arc Ultra have also been leaked on Reddit. There’s a combination of product photos and lifestyle images, and they seem to confirm that the soundbar works with the Sonos Ace headphones (not that anyone doubted that, especially since they’ve been updated to work with the Beam and Ray soundbars function).

The Sonos Arc Ultra is exciting because it’s supposedly the first product with a new type of speaker technology that Sonos apparently calls “Sound Motion” based on previous leaks, but was previously known as Mayht Heart Motion before Sonos bought the company.

These drivers are much smaller than traditional speaker designs, but can apparently deliver the same power and depth. They are supposed to be used here, but we don’t know exactly in what form – there is a good chance that they will bring significantly more bass and midrange power out of the bar.

The original Sonos Arc is still one of the best soundbars you can buy today, and I’ve already written about why I think the Arc’s successor could be one of the best tech releases of the year. And if Sonos manages to maintain the positive trajectory of its improved app by adding features and improving reliability, we could be onto a real winner here. It looks like we’ll soon find out one way or another.
