Five amazing pumpkin patches to visit this fall in mid-Michigan

With fall now in full swing, Halloween decorations are starting to sprout, meaning it’s officially pumpkin picking season.

Here are five places to pick and buy pumpkins in the middle of Michigan:

Grandma’s pumpkin patch

Grandma’s Pumpkin Patch, 4277 N. Eastman Road in Midland, is open this fall through Oct. 31.

In addition to a pumpkin farm that visitors can enter for free, Grandma’s Pumpkin Patch has a play area where visitors can go on hayrides, ride the cow train, visit a petting zoo, and more for $7 per person to enjoy the others on offer there Activities and entertainment options.

Entry to the play area is free for all visitors one year old or younger.

Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm

Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm is located at 4715 N. Portsmouth Road in Saginaw and is open through October 31st. There are reportedly more than 80 varieties of squash there, weighing up to 70 pounds, as well as gourds and gourds.

The farm also has a 13-acre corn maze to explore, which takes about 35 minutes to complete.

The farm also has a 1-acre soybean maze and a 1-acre sunflower maze for younger visitors.

The farm also has its own craft shop with handcrafted items, including decorations and gifts, from local suppliers.

The farm also offers horseback riding and other activities on weekends.

Visitors to Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm will also have the opportunity to enjoy fresh donuts, hand-baked fried cakes, pulled pork sandwiches and cold beverages.

Flushing Farms

Flushing Farms, 7096 Gillette Road in Flushing Township, offers pumpkins and a variety of fall entertainment for visitors of all ages.

Visitors can tour the Flushing Farms barn where they can purchase pumpkins for free.

Visitors who pay admission to Flushing Farms also have access to the pick-your-own pumpkin patch, three corn mazes of varying difficulty levels, inflatable obstacle courses, a bouncy castle, hayrides and a petting zoo.

At Flushing Farms, visitors also have a variety of food and drink options to choose from, including hot dogs, coney dogs, Polish dogs, ice cream, apple cider slushies and specialty apple ciders.

Grandpa Tiny’s Heritage Farm

Grandpa Tiny’s Heritage Farm, 7775 Weiss St. in Frankenmuth, is open year-round, but in the fall visitors can pick pumpkins, take hayrides, eat donuts and drink apple cider at the farm.

Visitors to the farm also have the opportunity to view vintage farm equipment and see the farm’s “petting barn and chicken coop,” which is home to various farm animals.

There is also a play area for children on the farm.

Porter’s Orchard Farm Market & Cider Mill

Located at 12060 Hegel Road in Goodrich, Porter’s Orchard Farm Market & Cider Mill is a third-generation, family-owned orchard and market selling a variety of items, including pumpkins.

At Porter’s Orchard, visitors can pick their own pumpkins, explore 14 acres of corn maze trails, take hayrides, drink apple cider slushies and purchase a variety of fruits from the orchard, including apples, pears and plums. Fresh honey is also sold there.
