NASCAR driver ‘should receive Presidential Medal of Freedom for Hurricane Helene efforts,’ says ESPN analyst

A NASCAR driver was in North Carolina to help victims of Hurricane Helene.

Greg Biffle posted numerous photos and videos of the destruction caused by the storm.

The 54-year-old has been using his private helicopter to deliver supplies and internet services to those who need them. He even located a stranded family during the flight because they were using a rescue device Mirror against the sun.

The effort caught the attention of ESPN analyst Marty Smith, who said Biffle should receive the highest honor for an American citizen.

“Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle should receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his sustained and unceasing heroic efforts in western North Carolina, using his helicopter and coordinating with others to save lives. Go to @gbiffle to see his amazing performance. “Thanks Greg,” Smith wrote on X.

Biffle has provided Starlink services to residents in western North Carolina and reflected on his experience helping the stranded family whose mirror use saved them.

“It was the only way we could find someone who was stranded in the mountains at the bottom of a steep ravine. Six attempts to land due to difficulty, but we made it – got him a chainsaw, EpiPens, insulin, chicken feed, formula, gas, two-stroke oil, and pre-made sandwiches from Harris Teeter before we left,” Biffle posted.

The storm reached the United States on Thursday and impacted the sports world. Two games between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets were postponed until a doubleheader on Monday that ultimately decided the teams’ postseason fate.

The Denver Broncos, staying at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia for back-to-back games on the East Coast, practiced on indoor tennis courts.

Saturday’s Appalachian State-Liberty football game has also been canceled East Tennessee football team have been sleeping on buses since flooding brought travel to a standstill on Friday evening.

Several NFL team owners also donated to the cause.

FOX Corporation also launched a fundraiser for the American Red Cross. Hurricane Helene Relief efforts and urged viewers to help those affected by the deadly storm.
