Check out all of the community discussion forums In this series you’ll just see a wave of frustration from different players over different things, from overpriced expansion packs to half-baked content that does nothing to innovate the core experience.

This has been the case almost the entire time since the game came out, and so many held on to the hope that Electronic Arts would actually get involved and that the next game in the franchise, a potential fifth game, would deliver a richer result and an even more intense experience.

But this hope was quickly dashed when it was unceremoniously cancelled. The new game in development, Project ReneThen it would soon become apparent that it would be a multiplayer-focused multiplatform experience (read: mobile game) rather than the popular single-player sandbox.

The problem is that the woes haven’t stopped there, because lo and behold, leaks have surfaced showing gameplay footage from Project Rene and it’s as bad as this franchise can get.

With character models that look even duller than in the fourth game, an art style that feels uglier than ever, and a seemingly big focus on even more egregious microtransactions than before, it’s no surprise that fans reacted the way they did and threw heaps negative comments about Electronic Arts and the nature of the project.

In a way, the outcry reminds us of this The Last of Us 2 It was such a disaster that it torpedoed the game and Naughty Dog’s reputation before release.

Plus, it was Naughty Dog we were talking about back then that still managed to deliver a competent narrative and experience in the eyes of many. Can we expect the same from Electronic Arts? Look, one of the reasons this franchise has grown so much is because no game can even come close to matching it in life simulation. Many tried, of course, but they disappeared as quickly as they came.

That’s starting to change now, with games like Paralives And inZOI just around the corner. The latter in particular, an upcoming life sim from Krafton, has caught the attention of many and is now seen as the genre’s one big potential savior.

From the stunning graphics, open-world environments, lifelike character interactions to innovative gameplay elements such as active careers and drivable vehicles – elements of the The Electronic Arts franchise has long been neglected – and as a character creator demo that has already attracted 18,000 concurrent players on Steam, the game will undoubtedly be stunning The Sims If Project Rene It turns out that it is nothing more than what it currently is.

With all the excitement around us inZOI and the overwhelmingly negative response to the Project Rene leaks, The Sims may be facing its biggest threat yet. Unless EA If someone seriously steps up their game, the franchise could be in real trouble.

But with all that said, what do you think about these leaks? Would Project Rene be successful if… inZOI manages to stick to the landing? Let us know in the comments below!
