Melania Trump reveals she told Donald to stop tough child immigration policies, finally declares ‘I really don’t care’ jacket in her explosive new memoir

Former first lady Melania Trump claims in the latest reveal of her new book that she forced her husband Donald to abandon his tough immigration policies that involve separating children from their parents.

The policy caused an international uproar in 2018 when her husband was president, but the former first lady wrote that she persuaded him to stop.

“This has to stop,” the former first lady said, telling her husband immediately. She wrote that she “emphasized the trauma this has caused these families” and he “assured her” that he would investigate before announcing the end of the policy on June 20, 2018.

Her account of the events is included in her new memoir, to be published next week, but excerpts about her views on immigration and her intervention were published by the Guardian on Thursday.

She called the family separations “unacceptable.”

In the book, Trump wrote that the children “are being held in overcrowded detention centers and absolute squalor… raising serious questions about their health and well-being.”

She continued: “The lack of a clear plan for family reunification and the lack of a definitive policy on these separations only added to the public’s outrage.” “I felt strongly that the situation required urgent attention and action.”

Trump himself is an immigrant who came to the United States from Slovenia and became a U.S. citizen in 2006.

“I empathize with everyone who wants to find a better life in this country.” “As an immigrant myself, I fully understand the necessary, if arduous, process of becoming a legal American,” she wrote of her interactions with her husband .

On immigration she wrote: “Because of my previous experiences with unfair media narratives, I have always approached the news with a certain amount of skepticism. Before I spoke to him about the border crisis, I researched the situation thoroughly.”

When Trump made a surprise visit to meet separated migrant children in June 2018, she caused a stir when she wore a jacket that said, “I really don’t care.” Do you?’

It sparked an avalanche of criticism as she left the world guessing as to what she meant. She addresses controversial clothing in her book.

Her press secretary at the time, Stephanie Grisham, disputed Trump’s account that the jacket was intended to target the media in her own book.

The now-Trump critic claimed that when they returned to Washington DC after the trip, Trump was the one who came up with the idea and told them to say they were “talking to the damn press.”

The latest revelations are just the latest in a series of explosive claims to come to light in Trump’s book involving areas where the former first lady disagrees with her husband.
