Bears wideout drops 3-word warning the rest of the NFL should take note

The Chicago Bears earned their first win of the 2024-25 NFL season in Week 5. The Bears’ offense followed an ice-cold first half with an effective second, totaling 264 yards and three touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams. Sophomore wide receiver Tyler Scott expressed confidence in the growth they have and will continue to have this season.

“As soon as it works, we become dangerous,” Scott said on The Sick Podcast with Adam Rank.

Head coach Matt Eberflus’ offense features Caleb Williams, as the No. 1 overall rookie pick has improved over the past two weeks with 50 completions on 75 throws for 520 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. It was always going to take time for the young quarterback to adjust to the speed of the NFL, but after just a few appearances so far, there’s little doubt that he’s on the right track.

Wide receivers DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and rookie Rome Odunze have started to find a rhythm with Williams, and they will all look to form a solid connection in the air attack going forward.

Scott begins the second year in Chicago with strong competition for snaps. He had some bright spots during his rookie season in 2023: He had 17 catches on 32 targets for 168 yards and saw some solid opportunities in the ground game with seven attempts for 41 yards.

It will be difficult as the trio of Moore, Allen and Odunze become more and more comfortable. Although Allen made just his second appearance of the season in Week 4, Scott has not yet been included in the program. Instead, it was veterans Velus Jones Jr. and DeAndre Carter who were responsible for the rest of the team’s aerial attack.

Scott is a good playmaker and could have more opportunities soon as Eberflus continues to experiment with this year’s new Bears offense. For now, he remains focused on what’s happening and betting on the offense’s future ceiling as he continues to work on improving his skills as he waits for his chance.

The Bears will look to start a winning streak when they host the Carolina Panthers for a Week 5 NFC matchup at Soldier Field on Oct. 6. It will be interesting to see if they can add to their meager passing touchdown total of three and Williams can go two straight games without a turnover. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
