Vishnu Manchu on Telangana minister’s remarks: Such actions lead to division

Following Congress minister Konda Surekha’s recent comments linking BRS leader KT Rama Rao to Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s divorce, actor and Movie Artists Association (MAA) president Vishnu Manchu released a statement on social media .

On October 2, Telangana became Minister for Forest and Environment Konda Surekha sparked controversy with a fiery speechaccused BRS leader KTR of being involved in drug parties and claimed he was responsible for the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

The politician’s comments went viral and several celebrities, including Vishnu Manchu, reacted to them. He shared a statement calling on people to target the private lives of artists on a public platform.

“Given the recent unfortunate public statements, I believe it is important to address the pain caused to the families affected. “Our industry, like any other, is built on mutual respect and trust, and it is disheartening to see false narratives used for public or political gain,” the statement said.

Responding to the increasing intrusion into the private lives of public figures, Manchu stressed the importance of privacy and respect, noting that while their profession receives public attention, their families should be protected from unnecessary scrutiny.

“As artists, we are no strangers to public attention, but our families are private and deserve the same respect and protection as any other family.” Just as no one would like to see their own loved ones targeted or their private lives turned into unfounded accusations “We too demand that we be given the same dignity,” the statement continued.

The statement continued: “I humbly appeal to all executives, politicians and people in positions of influence not to use the names of actors and their families for political narratives or attention-grabbing headlines.” As a film fraternity, we work hard to educate society to entertain and contribute to society, and it is my sincere request that private lives be excluded from public discourse.”

He concluded the statement by calling on everyone to protect families from this harmful attention.

“Let us respect each other, not only as professionals but also as people. Families are sacred and the pain caused by false narratives is immense. I trust we can all agree that such actions only cause division and pain. On behalf of the entire industry, I demand that families be spared from such unwarranted and damaging attention. Personally, I will not be a silent spectator if someone tries to harm my film fraternity. We will not tolerate such abuse. We agree on this,” the statement said.

Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has apologized for her comments. Her apology came afterwards KTR sent her a legal noticeand asked the minister to retract her statement and apologize, otherwise he would take legal action against her.

In a series of tweets, Konda Surekha clarified that her comments were meant to question KTR’s “degradation of women” and not to hurt anyone’s feelings. She said her comments were not intended to demean Samantha Prabhu’s family and expressed regret if her comments hurt her.
