Investigators assume that the KC man has been responsible for 35 robberies since December 2023

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A man charged with six counts of robbery and six counts of armed criminal action may be responsible for 35 robberies since December 2023, according to a court document.

Manyiuel Caldwell, 18, is being held without bail at the Jackson County Detention Center.

“The court further finds, based on clear and convincing evidence, that no combination of non-monetary conditions and monetary conditions will ensure the safety of the community or other persons, including, but not limited to, the victim of a crime and witnesses,” it says it in a court document.

Kansas City, Missouri, investigators have spent nearly a year investigating a series of armed robberies.

According to court documents, Caldwell is accused of three robberies on July 5 and three additional robberies on July 7.

One of the robberies Caldwell is accused of occurred July 5 at a store whose address is redacted in court documents.

A surveillance camera captured Caldwell entering the store. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, a white face covering and black pants with three vertical white stripes down each leg.

He was also wearing blue rubber gloves and carrying a black handgun, according to court documents.

The second man stood at the store door while Caldwell went behind the counter and pointed his gun at the clerk.

The clerk opened the registers and Caldwell grabbed the cash, according to the court document.

During a robbery on July 7, two black men walked east through a parking lot and entered the store.

Caldwell was wearing a blue hooded jacket, a black face covering, a white tank top and black shorts with a white Nike emblem on the left leg.

According to court documents, he was carrying an AK rifle, which he pointed at the employee.

The clerk opened the register, Caldwell grabbed the money and both robbers ran out of the store.

“Forensic analysis has also linked Manyiuel Caldwell as a suspect in a home invasion robbery and is believed to have been the suspect in approximately 35 armed robberies since December 2023,” court documents said.
