MAS offers free adoptions when uptake is strong

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis Animal Services is offering free adoptions through October 15th due to severely over capacity.

MAS says it has exceeded capacity for 120 dogs and that they are looking for both adoptions and foster homes to ease the burden.

Interim director Mary Borys says MAS is “drowning for dogs” and has taken in 188 dogs in the last nine days – more than the number of permanent kennels available at MAS.

Borys says the shelter was already overwhelmed before the 188 dogs were brought in.
