For reasons I find difficult to understand, a live-action Rugrats film with CGI babies is in the works

A live-action Rugrats movie is in the works and the babies will be CGI for some ungodly reason.

According to Variety, Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Phil and Lil Deville will be CGI-animated in the film, which will be a live-action/CGI hybrid a la Sonic the Hedgehog or Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers (which are good). will be films, so I have hope).

Of course, any ’90s kid knows that three other babies are missing from the lineup: Tommy’s little brother Dil, his cousin Angelica, their neighbor Suzy Carmichael, and Chuckie’s stepsister Kimi. We assume that the adults, Did and Stu Pickles, Drew and Charlotte Pickles, Chas Finster and Betty and Howard DeVille, are played by normal human actors.

Pitch Perfect alum Jason Moore is set to direct from a script written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.

“Rugrats,” created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain, first debuted on Nickelodeon in 1991. The original broadcast ended in 1994, although we received two Christmas specials in between, and the fourth season aired in 1996. And who could forget that? The Rugrats movie, when we first met Dil; Rugrats in Paris: The Movie; and Rugrats Go Wild, a crossover film with The Wild Thornberrys. In 2001, in a special and sequel series, we saw the babies “all grow up” and let them mature into teenagers.
