Husband wrote alarming Facebook posts before being found dead with his wife

A man who police believe killed his wife and himself in a murder-suicide had made several mysterious comments on his social media in the days leading up to the incident.

Hannah Kang, 25, was killed by her husband, 34-year-old Youree Kang, who then died by suicide at their home in Austin, Texas, on September 24, Austin police said in a statement at the time.

Police responded to the home after Hannah’s aunt requested a welfare check for the couple, the statement said. The aunt said she hadn’t heard from them in 24 hours; She later went to the house and found the couple’s vehicle at the scene, but told police no one answered the door, the statement said.

When Austin police arrived, they found the deceased couple at the residence.

“This is a murder-suicide, there are no other individuals involved in her death,” Austin police tell PEOPLE.

In the days leading up to the incident, Youree wrote several posts on his Facebook page that caused concern among people who knew him. (Austin police confirmed to PEOPLE that the Facebook page belonged to Youree.)

“I’m scared of what will happen to me because everyone scares me,” Youree wrote in a post the day before the murders.

“Every time I ask, it’s like everyone knows something but won’t tell me,” he wrote.

“My wife has been acting really weird lately too,” he later wrote in the post. “She is not the same person as I met her. She stuck with my craziness for ten years and is now getting a quick divorce. I was hoping that we would continue to grow together.”

In another post the day before, he appeared to express remorse for starting a relationship with Hannah when he was 24 and she was still a minor.

“I was a threat to society and I want to clear my name. “When I first met my wife Hannah, I had an abusive and toxic attitude,” he wrote.

“When I met her, she revealed her age (minor) to me and I still aspired to have a relationship with her. It was wrong of me and I can never give her back her precious life,” he wrote.

His posts seemed troubling to those who knew him.

“I am completely heartbroken and shocked… beyond sick to the stomach. I just checked in the other day to check on his health as something was clearly wrong,” one user wrote on Facebook alongside an article about the murders .

“I sent Youree a message the other day after reading some of his posts,” another user wrote after the murders. “This is so heartbreaking.”
