Which QBs will start for Colts, Dolphins in Week 5? – NBC 6 South Florida

Just a month into the 2024 season, teams across the NFL are dealing with serious injuries.

The Miami Dolphins already have three starting quarterbacks, the Kansas City Chiefs will move forward without their top wide receiver and two stars of the Indianapolis Colts’ offense missed their Week 4 win.

Here’s the latest on some key injured players heading into Week 5.

Anthony Richardson, QB, Colts

Anthony Richardson said the abdominal and oblique injuries he sustained during the Colts’ Week 4 win over the Steelers were “a little painful” but not serious. He will be considered day-to-day heading into Sunday’s AFC South game against the Jaguars.

Skylar Thompson, QB, Dolphins

The Dolphins turned to Tyler Huntley in Week 4 for Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) and Skylar Thompson (chest), and it didn’t go well. The team lost 31-12 and now enters October as the lowest-scoring offense in the NFL.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said the team plans to give Huntley another start in Week 5 against the Patriots while Thompson recovers.

Russell Wilson, QB, Steelers

Russell Wilson is doing his best as he continues to recover from a calf injury. However, the Steelers plan to keep Justin Fields as the starting quarterback against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football after the former Bear helped lead the team to a 3-1 start.

Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that star running back Christian McCaffrey is suffering from Achilles tendonitis in both legs. McCaffrey recently traveled to Germany to receive treatment for bilateral Achilles tendonitis and there is no timetable for his return.

Jonathan Taylor, RB, Colts

Jonathan Taylor suffered a mild upper ankle sprain in the Colts’ win over the Steelers. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Taylor “could miss time.”

Rashee Rice, WR, Chiefs

Rashee Rice is still awaiting diagnosis of the knee injury he suffered after he and Patrick Mahomes attempted to tackle a defender who intercepted Mahomes in the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory over the Chargers. It was initially feared that Rice had suffered a torn ACL and there is currently no timetable for a return.

Puka Nacua/Cooper Kupp, WRs, Rams

The Rams are still without their two best wideouts.

Puka Nacua is expected to miss at least another four months with his knee injury, while Cooper Kupp will be out at least until Week 7 with his ankle injury.

Maxx Crosby, DE, Raiders

Maxx Crosby missed the first game of his six-year NFL career in Week 4 with an ankle injury. He hopes to return to the field for the Raiders’ AFC West clash against the Broncos and is considered an everyday option.
