Fortnite sleep mode: what does it do and how do you activate it?

Fortnite Sleep Mode is a new setting added to the game to save energy for players who are idle or have AFK enabled. When activated, your chat will pause and the activity you were participating in will be reduced to a minimum to put you in a power saving mode. However, in most cases, you can quickly get back to where you left off when you left off. It’s useful to know how this works because you don’t want to be waiting for the next Fortnite live event to start and suddenly be hit with a power saving mode. With that in mind, here’s what sleep mode does in Fortnite and how to change your settings.

Fortnite Sleep Mode is a power saving option for the game that also allows you to automatically notify your group of your absence without you having to do anything. Sleep mode can be configured to start after a set period of inactivityand you will receive a 30 second countdown warning on the screen before starting, which you can dismiss and return to play. Once you are in sleep mode, voice chat will pause and your status will appear as Away to other group members, allowing them to continue the activity without you. If you were in the queue at this point, your matchmaking will be canceled. You can also manually enter sleep mode on your PC by selecting “Exit” from the main menu and then following the “Enter sleep mode” prompt.
