Lady Gaga recalls how working on Joker 2 affected her personal life with her fiancé

In just a few days, the public will be able to see a new actress portray Harley Quinn in a live-action film, following Margot Robbie’s run as the character in the DC Extended Universe. Lady Gaga gives her own take on Harley in the upcoming DC film Joker: Folie à Deuxinformally known as Joker 2which begins two years after the events of the first joker Film. Gaga has already been praised for her performance in this DC Comics adaptation, in which she stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix, but Gaga admitted that being cast in the role also affected her personal life with her fiancé Michael Polansky.

Lady Gaga discussed this topic and explained how the film inspired her new album harlequinwhich collects reimagined covers that she and Phoenix sing in “Joker,” as well as two original songs. The singer-songwriter and star of films like A star is born And House of Gucci started by telling EW:

I wasn’t finished with this character when I finished shooting the film. Creating her had a profound effect on me. Because of the way I prepare for things, Michael also got to know Lee quite well and that’s why we conceived this project together.

Of course, thanks to the first film, we’ve already seen snippets of what Lady Gaga will do as Harley Quinn, credited as Lee in this film Joker: Folie à Deux trailer and the previews that follow, but it’s nice to get some additional insight into the way actors approach their roles. Clearly, Gaga gave a lot of herself to bring Lee to life, as made clear by Michael Polansky, who was nowhere near capable of bringing Lee to life Joker 2 Set, became familiar with the character, which in turn led to the creation of harlequin. Gaga also spoke more about how her version of Harley Quinn aims to celebrate “complex female characters,” saying:

We wanted to make something to celebrate the complexity of a woman who carries danger within her but at the same time carries a sense of sweetness that cannot be defined. Just as you can’t define Lee in the film, you can’t define her by genre in this album.

Michael Polansky is credited as Harlequin’s songwriter, and Lady Gaga praised her fiancé for his “tremendous creativity,” calling him “closer to me artistically than most people” in her life. So if you are a fan of Gaga’s music and looking forward to listening to it harlequinthen you have to give him props too. Without Polansky’s contributions, it seems like the album wouldn’t exist.

Instead of starting out as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum as traditionally portrayed, Lady Gaga’s version of Harley Quinn is a fellow patient in Arkham alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck. When Lee meets Arthur, he becomes obsessed with him, and from then on they develop a disturbing love affair that has been featured in the media for over three decades. Joker 2The cast also includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan and Harry Lawtey.
