“We Live in Time” filmmaker John Crowley directs “Five” for TriStar

John Crowley, whose romantic drama We live in time is currently breaking hearts at the fall film festivals and has signed on to direct Fivea psychological thriller currently in development at TriStar Pictures.

Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Betsy Koch are producing the feature through their Hyperobject Industries. The project reunites producers with Seth Reiss, co-writer of the production banner’s 2022 dark thriller The menuwhich starred Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy.

While plot details are being kept secret, the project is described as a two-hander and will revolve around a young widow who becomes obsessed with the actress of a one-woman show.

Reiss will executive produce. TriStar President Nicole Brown and Shary Shirazi oversee the studio.

Crowley is the BAFTA-winning Irish film and theater director who made his feature film debut with the 2003 crime anthology pause. He won a BAFTA for Best Director for his 2007 drama Boy Awhich starred Andrew Garfield and caught Hollywood’s attention Brooklynthe 2015 immigration drama starring Saoirse Ronan won a BAFTA for Best British Film and also received three Oscar nominations. Additional credits include The goldfinchthe 2019 adaptation of Donna Tartt’s novel starring Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman and.

We live in time The film stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh as a couple whose love story is told over a period of decades. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is being released in theaters by A24.
