More details about Happy Gilmore 2 keep coming out, and I can’t decide whether I’m more excited about John Daly or news about the release

Adam Sandler fans popular sports comedy Happy Gilmore I’ve been waiting for a sequel for years and your patience will soon pay off. The upcoming Have fun with Gilmore 2 is now officially in production and new updates are coming out. As new details emerge, it’s hard to say what’s more exciting – the involvement of golfer John Daly or the release date news!

John Daly, known for his colorful personality and power on the golf course, confirmed this OutKick that he is actually part of the sequel. It honestly makes sense that Adam Sandler would want to include the athlete in the film given his connection to the game of golf. As some may remember, veteran golfers Mark Lye and Lee starred in the original film. As for Daly in terms of production, he delivered great news:

What’s even more exciting, however, is that the 58-year-old sports icon also hinted that fans won’t have to wait too long for the sequel, as it’s likely to hit theaters early 2025 film release schedule. Big John teased that the flick will most likely hit one of them best streaming servicesNetflix, possibly around March or April next year. With a wink and a smile, he added a playful “Shh!” to keep things secret, even if my excitement can’t be contained.

Can you believe it? While a sequel to one of the ’90s’ most iconic comedies once seemed unlikely, John Daly’s Wild Thing gives us great hope that we’re now less than a year away from becoming a reality. Not to mention we get to see one of the wildest athletes of all time in the sport! But will it be a cameo as himself or as a character? It’s hard to say, but I’m still sure it’ll be used in an entertaining way.

I’m pleased with Daly’s involvement, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the plot. In September 2024, Netflix confirmed that Christopher McDonald would be returning as one of the ’90s’ meanest movie villains, Shooter McGavin, alongside Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit. What’s particularly intriguing is that Bowen revealed that the cast will also be de-aged for some flashbacks. This makes me curious about what to expect from the sequel.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, who always seems to grab headlines, has been linked to the Sandler-directed sequel since May 2024 – and now it’s official. When Adam Sandler performed at Kelce’s New heights On his podcast in August, he confirmed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end would be a part of the film, but didn’t reveal any details about the role. One thing we know? Kelce already has this classic Gilmore Momentum down, so he’s obviously ready to tee off alongside Daly and the rest of the cast.

With John Daly confirming his involvement and a possible release in early 2025, Have fun with Gilmore 2 is becoming a must-attend event. The only question is whether the fans will laugh as loudly as they did 28 years ago. Fingers crossed.
