Golf legend loses his home due to Hurricane Helene

Former Razorback golfer and two-time major champion John Daly recently shared on social media that he lost his home in Florida due to Hurricane Helene.

Daly posted before and after the hurricane in the Big Bend area, where he lives with his family. The Category 4 hurricane struck millions of Americans from the Gulf Coast to the Appalachian Mountains late Thursday and Friday as it made landfall, producing winds of up to 140 miles per hour.

On Thursday, in an Instagram story, Daly posted a screenshot of the storm’s live radar while pointing to his home near the Tampa area with a home emoji. In the post, he wrote, “Please be safe during Hurricane Helene.”

He then turned to Facebook Friday morning to post an update about his family’s safety. Unfortunately, there was significant damage to his property.

“To everyone who has come forward, my family is all safe, but not all of our homes are with water pouring out of every crack,” Daly wrote. “Total loss and devastation after living here my entire life! I still can’t imagine that we lost EVERYTHING, but we are SAFE and everything can be replaced! Praise God!”

Daly, 58, was born in Carmichael, California, but grew up in Dardanelle, Arkansas. He played for the Razorbacks from 1984 to 1987 and later owned property adjacent to Paradise Valley Athletic Club in Fayetteville and Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.

According to Sports Illustrated, Daly also had a house on the TCP Southwind course in Memphis.
