Gaurav Taneja, Ritu Rathee Divorce: Video that sparked breakup and cheating rumors

“Flying Beast” Gaurav Taneja and Ritu Rathee have been married for eight years. However, their once idyllic marriage seems to be entering a turbulent phase that could lead to their divorce. The rumors of their breakup started after fans spotted Rathee, an Airbus A320 captain, seeking advice from spiritual guru Premanand Govind Sharan at Bhajan Marg. In the video, she expressed concerns about infidelity and custody of her two daughters, Kiara and Pihu.

In the video, which is all over the internet, a man can be heard asking a question on behalf of Rathee. The question was: “She truly loved her husband but in return she had to endure cheating, lies, slander and humiliation.” Therefore, now while fulfilling my duties towards my two daughters, I live under the protection of Laali Ji. I live separately. By the grace of Shri Ji, I have a job where I look after my daughters. The question is: Should I leave everything behind and spend my life exclusively under the refuge of Shri Ji or should I fight like Arjuna for the rights of my daughters according to the law? It feels like my Shri Ji will move away from me if I choose the latter path.”

During the now-viral video, the camera panned for a very brief period of time to show a woman whose identity remained hidden. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to identify her as Rathee, leading to speculation that Taneja was cheating on her and that they broke up as she was absent from Taneja’s recent vlogs.

While both Taneja and Rathee admitted to going through a turbulent phase in their marriage, they requested their fans’ privacy in separate Instagram posts. Taneja stated that he will “stay quiet for his children and the mother of his children” and is ready to endure all the “negativity and hatred.” Rathee, on the other hand, urged people to stop calling Taneja a ‘cheater’ and offered a reality check regarding her divorce.

After the video of Rathee admitting to living separately went viral, Taneja shared a post with the phrase, “Joi Joi pyaaro kare, soi mohe bhave,” which translates to, “Whoever loves me, I love him back.”

“I will remain silent for my children and the mother of my child. Ready to live with all the negativity and hate my whole life. Please don’t expect a public statement,” the 38-year-old YouTuber wrote on Instagram.

He urged people to “stop making assumptions”, adding: “Men are very quickly made into villains.” We don’t cry, we talk less and express less. Some of us are hardwired that way.”

Ritu Rathee tagged Taneja in an Instagram video with the caption “Reality” and offered a reality check on her divorce. Not only did she admit that she was the woman in the viral video, but she also denied being wronged by her husband.

“…the same man has equally empowered me to raise my children on my own over these eight years. How many men in India have given their wives the same abilities?” asked a visibly emotional Rathee.

She continued: “There are many things that can burn between a man and a woman. Something must have happened. This time it hurt him, and it hurt me too. He thought he was right and I thought I was right. He became stubborn and so did I.”

“But does that mean you’re going to tell me what kind of man he was?” Rathee asked.

The mother of two added: “There are very few people who deserve respect. I know this man inside and out. I don’t need to hear from you about his principles. I don’t need to hear from you about whether he was real, whether he was loyal. I’ve seen him go through every situation.”

Both Taneja and Rathee have asked their fans for privacy during this difficult time and remain “hopeful” that they will overcome this difficult phase.
