Mohanlal plays Rishab Shetty’s father in Kantara: Chapter 1? What we know

Rishab Shetty is currently busy working on his highly anticipated prequel film Kantara: Chapter 1. The viewers were eagerly waiting for more updates about the film. Meanwhile, as per the latest updates, the filmmaker has roped in legendary actor Mohanlal for a pivotal role in the film. It is reported that the superstar is likely to be seen as Rishab Shetty’s father in the upcoming film. However, there is no official update yet.

The movie Kantara: Chapter 1 is one of the most awaited movies in India. Back in April, Rishab Shetty and his wife Pragathi met the legendary actor and shared the pictures which went viral in no time. The highly anticipated film has created a huge buzz ever since it was first announced. The makers of the film had announced the upcoming sequel with a title reveal that features Rishab in a menacing avatar against a historical backdrop.

According to reports, Kantara: Chapter 1, touted as a prequel to the first part, would likely follow the lore of the Panchurli Deiva, set in the Kadamba era. The film, which is also directed by Rishab, brings back Ajaneesh Loknath as the music director, who had earlier created some mysterious scores and titles for the previous installment.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to hit theater screens in late 2024 or early 2025, but the official release date has not yet been determined. According to reports, the film’s post-theatrical streaming will be purchased by Amazon Prime Video. The first part titled ‘Kantara’ was also directed by the actor and told the story of Shiva who competes with a righteous forest officer. The film also gained great importance due to its narrative and the impeccable images it presented, as well as the spectacular mythical folklore.

Mohanlal will soon be seen in the lead role in the upcoming film Barroz, which also marks his directorial debut. Apart from this, the actor is also shooting for the film L2: Empuraan and the tentative title L360.
