The British Boxing Board of Control has banned Anthony Joshua (AJ) from ringing. This follows his humiliating knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium last Saturday.

The two-time world heavyweight champion has been banned from boxing for the next 28 days after he was brutally knocked down by compatriot Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London.

Wembley Stadium was filled to the brim, every rafter was filled with fans and ready for the duel. Supporters assumed AJ could win gold for the first time since losing his belts to his opponent Oleksandr Usyk in 2021. However, he was outmaneuvered by Dubois in his first defense.

Whenever a fighter loses due to TKO or KO, the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports includes medical suspensions as one of their mandatory obligations. This is why the British Boxing Board of Control briefly enforced this brief ban on AJ.

However, there are no fights planned for AJ. Therefore, the break may not have a significant impact on his agenda. The loss to Dubois was his fourth defeat in his entire professional boxing career.

In addition, the course of the former Olympic champion’s boxing career remains a point of contention. Various experts and former boxers have reacted to the ban. They have expressed different views on AJ’s future in boxing.

Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn believes AJ still has the fighting spirit.

On the other hand, a former professional boxer Carl Froch, who had predicted AJ’s victory over Dubois, doubted AJ’s future.

“He lacked ambition, lacked confidence and self-belief. His recovery powers are terrible, he looked exhausted. I question Anthony Joshua’s desire to still be in that boxing ring. I don’t think AJ wants it anymore, he shouldn’t box. “This performance was weak,” said Carl Froch on his YouTube channel.

“What’s next for AJ? I don’t even know. This could be the last time we see Anthony Joshua. “I can’t just imagine a future for Anthony Joshua,” the former boxer continued.
