FBI Houston is searching for “plaid looter” after fifth bank robbery since July linked to man seen on camera, officials say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a robbery suspect known as the Plaid Looter.

The FBI Houston is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect after a fifth bank reportedly fell victim to his robberies.

The most recent robbery occurred on Friday, September 20, at approximately 2:10 p.m. at the Bank of America at 5348 Westheimer Road in west Houston.

According to the FBI, the suspect walked up to the counter and allegedly handed the teller a threatening letter demanding money.

Authorities said he then ran away with cash across Westheimer Road and that no one was physically injured in the robbery.

It is unclear how much money was stolen.

Eyewitness News reported on the search for this suspect in August, but his escapades have been traced back to July 2022, according to the FBI.

He is accused of robbing the following banks:

  • Wells Fargo Bank located at 11152 South Gessner in southwest Houston on Friday, July 22, 2022
  • Chase Bank located at 10411 Westheimer in west Houston on Friday, February 3, 2023
  • Bank of America will be located at 5348 Westheimer in west Houston on Friday, February 10, 2023
  • Cadence Bank located at 3754 Westheimer in west Houston on Monday, March 6, 2023

Police released additional images of the suspect from surveillance videos. Investigators describe him as a white man in his late 50s with thinning hair, about 1.80 meters tall, with a strong build and a white stubble beard.

The FBI Houston said a witness saw the suspect had an older black or green tattoo on the left side of his head.

Authorities urge you to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston directly if you have any information related to this investigation. Information leading to the indictment and/or arrest of suspects may result in a cash payment of up to $5,000.
