Florida State needs to send DJU to Timbuktu after hitting rock bottom

I am very concerned about the future of the Florida State football program…If you live in the transfer portal, you may as well die in it. After previously relying on key players like Jordan Travis (Louisville), Jared Verse (Albany), Trey Benson (Oregon) and Keon Coleman (Michigan State), the Seminoles came away empty-handed with DJ Uiagalelei at quarterback (Oregon State and Clemson).

After finally getting on the win list with a close home win over Cal two weeks ago, the ‘Noles backed up their first ACC win of the season with a disastrous performance against SMU in Dallas. Florida State is now 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in ACC play. To even get into a bowl game, they have to win five of their last seven games. Are there still really winnable victories on the agenda?

Dates with North Carolina, Charleston Southern and Florida are their easiest remaining games. Simply put, Mike Norvell’s team has to win this one because if not, it will have to win three of the other four games on the schedule. Between Miami, Notre Dame, Clemson and Duke, do you think Florida State has a great chance? All of these teams are currently eligible for the playoffs.

Duke is probably the easiest, but Florida State will have a quarterback deficit in each of these games.

Why does Uiagalelei still start ahead of Brock Glenn, barring guaranteed zero promises or whatnot?

Apparently Norvell got the message, but what he wants to do at quarterback is amazing.

Yes, you read that correctly. Uiagalelei is listed as QB1 on the depth chart with the “or” designation.

This feels like a tactic for Norvell to easily let Uiagalelei down, even though he’s a fifth-year senior with plenty of starting experience and doesn’t need it. Either Uiagalelei was promised something by a Florida State sponsor, or Glenn must just look so bad in practice. I understand that Alex Atkins missed the first three games of the season, but you have to keep in mind that he is not loyal to Uiagalelei.

Overall, this is a terrible sight for everyone involved. While I don’t believe Florida State will fire Norvell after the end of the season, he will be forced to move on from an ineffective defensive coordinator in Adam Fuller. Given that Atkins is still in the middle of a show, he can’t go to another job, so let’s stick together for the kids, shall we? Well, I would want to get out of Dodge here yesterday.

Has there ever been a quarterback whose stock crashed like that and burned to nothing?
