If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what everyday items famous people put in their shopping carts – like Hairspray or a electric toothbrush. We asked the host of the viral children’s show, Ms. Rachel – whose New toy line just launched – about the water bottle, toys and tongue scraper she can’t live without.

Mister Rogers mug with heat changing color transformation

I’ve loved Mister Rogers since I was little and he’s my hero. I am so impressed by how much he cares about the children and their families. I even bought the same shoes as him to literally walk in his shoes or follow in his footsteps. If you pour hot coffee or tea into this cup, his sweater will change. Every time I see it I think: Okay, that’s why I do what I do. I also love coffee. I can’t function without coffee.

DrTungs stainless tongue scraper

When I made this list, I was going through a normal day in my head and thinking about the things I use all the time. What I really enjoy is my tongue scraper. I have tried others but this one does the job best. It removes all the dirt. I think it has something to do with the metal it’s made of. Maybe it’s strange, but I just like having a clean tongue.

Ozery Bakery Morning Rounds Fruit and Grain Rolls, Cranberry Orange

We have a few people who freelance for us and in the morning I ask myself, “Would you like a morning round?” They’re a bit like English muffins, but with little pieces of fruit and even more delicious. I put them in the toaster and then add butter and it is just life changing. I make them for everyone.

Owala FreeSip 24 oz Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle

I’ll say to my husband, “Aaron, I have a headache,” and he’ll ask me, “Have you been drinking water?” Then I’ll say, “No, I haven’t drank water in a few days.” It’s a real problem. I don’t drink water, but this water bottle encourages me. It has a straw so you can sip or turn it. I bought one for every employee we have.

Stomp Rocket Jr Multi-colored rocket launcher for children

Stomp Rockets are a really good way to get kids outside and teach them to take turns. You can say, “She’s going to stomp, and then it’s your turn.” Practicing taking turns and waiting your turn before coming to kindergarten is great for kids. And when you play with them in the park, they often attract other children who want to play too. They’re just a lot of fun.

The Nugget gaming couch

You can do so much with the Nugget Couch. We have one in navy blue – I like to buy things in dark colors so you just can’t tell if they stain. I set out Play-Doh or other toys when kids come over to play, but the nugget always steals the show. My son recently had friends over and they pretended it was a swimming pool and then used it to build forts. It’s such a nice product, not just for children. There is a video of me recording our audiobook using our Nugget as a sound booth. And when my son Thomas had a bad dream, I slept on it and it was super comfortable. We actually have two Nuggets in New York, where we have very little space. My mom bought us the second one and my husband asked, “Why did she buy another nugget?” We already have one.” Secretly I thought, “Ooh, another nugget!” And of course we find uses for both.

Ewedoos leggings with 5 pockets

It’s my mother’s uniform. I like how much you can fit in the pockets and there are two pockets on each side. It’s like the Mary Poppins handbag – you can put so much in it. And when you’re chasing kids, it’s just nice to wear leggings, and they’re not expensive either. I wear gray and bought a few sizes larger to be super comfortable. I don’t like it when it’s too tight.

Custom gold plated bracelet from Little Words Project

I have always enjoyed wearing religious and spiritual jewelry. Things can feel like a rollercoaster and I have to remind myself to look at the rollercoaster and not be on it all the time. Especially with the amount of feedback I get, it can be difficult when it’s hurtful. A visual reminder of my faith and what is important in life and what sustains me is really nice. That’s why I wear one called Thomas, or “Faith,” “Love,” or “Teacher.” I have many of them. I have had postpartum depression, OCD and anxiety, so mental health is very important to me. Now that I’m six years old, I think I can manage to talk about it and try to advocate for it. For me it took a really long time, I didn’t find my way back to normality for a very long time.

Mrs. Rachel cuddly and comfort doll toy

It’s so great to have had the opportunity to make a Ms. Rachel doll. I just hope it’s comforting for the little ones. I felt like Tom Hanks from Large select the sayings and songs in the design meetings. Now I have one of the dolls on my desk. She actually helps me during the day because she tells me to take deep breaths. I always forget to breathe. So when a children’s show says, “Take a deep breath,” or when a book I read to Thomas says, I think to myself: Oh my god, that felt so good. She also says, “You can do difficult things,” a saying that really helped me because a lot of things intimidate me. And she says, “You are so loved.” I really like it when children know that they are always loved, even if they have problems or make mistakes. I’m so excited to be Santa Claus with the Ms. Rachel toys. I want to carry them around with me. So if someone stops me on the street, I can say, “Do you want a doll?”
