Man sentenced to 12 years in prison after accepting to brutally beat a Syracuse man

Syracuse, NY – A man who received $50 for attacking a Syracuse man who was later held and tortured for days was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison.

Quincy Williams, 29, was found guilty of assault and robbery after a trial in July. Williams was paid to brutally beat and rob Koddie Beechner.

Williams was one of seven people charged in connection with the crime. Six people were charged with kidnapping and first-degree assault. Williams was the only person not charged with kidnapping.

Beechner, 26, was found at an apartment and later at a house on Merriman Ave. 304 held and attacked between 21 and 24 April. Beechner suffered multiple facial injuries, a collapsed lung, broken bones, and wounds from repeated pellet gun shots. He still has pellets in his body.

On Monday, Judge Gordon Cuffy said that while William’s involvement in the crime was limited, his actions were nonetheless serious.

Throughout the trial, the judge and jury watched a series of brutal videos showing the torture. Williams appears in only two videos, including one in which he repeatedly punched Beechner.

A prosecutor read a statement from Beechner at Williams’ sentencing on Monday. Beechner wrote that karma was coming for Williams. The statement was not read out in full because the public prosecutor did not consider it worthy of trial.

Before his sentencing, Williams apologized for his actions. He faces up to 25 years in prison for both charges. Cuffy sentenced Williams to 12 years in prison for each charge, but the sentences were to be served concurrently.
