Time to see Tim Walz, JD Vance

Two American politicians vying for the U.S. vice presidential seat will face off in a debate for the first time on Tuesday.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as vice president in August. A month earlier, Republican candidate Donald Trump chose Ohio Senator JD Vance as his candidate to run alongside the former president.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the vice president debate:

Date and time of the vice president debate

Walz and Vance accepted an invitation from CBS News Debate at 8pm CT on Tuesday, October 1stas the network announced. Anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell (“CBS Evening News”) and CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan will moderate. The station has not yet announced a broadcast time.

According to CBS News, the network proposed four dates for a debate between the two vice presidential candidates: September 17th, September 24th, October 1st and October 8th. Both campaigns soon agreed on October 1st.

“See you October 1st, JD,” Walz wrote on August 14 on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Vance accepted the October 1 debate the following day, while also proposing a September 18 debate on CNN. Michael Tyler, the communications director for Harris’ campaign, told CBS News later in the day that Walz would only attend the Oct. 1 debate.

Where will the vice presidential debate take place on October 1st?

According to CBS News, the debate will take place at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

Here’s how to watch the vice president debate

The debate is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. CT. According to CBS. It lasts 90 minutes – the same length as the two presidential debates – and ends at 9:30 p.m. CT.

It will air on CBS and will be livestreamed on all platforms where CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+ are available. The debate will also be available as a simulcast, CBS announced.
