The Google Play Store can now automatically open newly installed apps

Google has quietly released a new update for the Play Store app. The new update allows the Google Play Store to automatically open newly installed or downloaded applications. Notably, Google has been testing this functionality since June of this year. The feature was first enabled in early June by @AssembleDebug through a tweak to the APK of the Play Store application.

The Google Play Store will now automatically open new apps after five seconds of installation

According to the screenshots shared by Mishaal Rahman, the updated Google Play Store app now has a toggle for the “Open automatically after installation” option. This feature appears after you click the Install button on any app’s page in the Play Store. Once activated, this Google Play Store feature will automatically open a newly installed app five seconds after installation.

In particular, if you enable the auto-open option, a notification with a countdown will appear. This way you know when the app opens. According to the sources, the new functionality is available in version 42.5.15 of the Google Play Store app. Additionally, Google is currently rolling out the new update gradually worldwide. Therefore, it may take some time to reach your Android device.

The new Play Store feature comes in handy for those who forget to open an app after clicking the install button. The latest functionality aims to improve the app installation experience on Android devices. Surprisingly, Google did not introduce this feature in the previous Android version.

The Play Store will soon display app ratings for different form factors within the icon

Notably, Google is also working on a new feature that will change the way Play Store displays reviews according to different form factors. Currently, the Play Store displays ratings for apps with specific icons for different devices. You can simply click on any of these buttons to see the exact ratings for different form factors. Soon, a new Play Store update will provide a more convenient way to view reviews across devices.

The upcoming update will display reviews directly in the corresponding icons for different products. So you no longer have to click on the icon to see the app’s ratings for a specific device. The company is currently testing this functionality with a limited number of users. It will soon release a new update to the Play Store that will provide this feature.
