More rain is possible in parts of the central Appalachians

The remnants of former Hurricane Helene combined with a mild rain front could bring additional rain to parts of the central Appalachians, federal forecasts said.

Between 1 and 2 inches of rain, with up to 5 inches in some areas, could fall from West Virginia to northwestern Virginia and far western Maryland, according to the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center.
