Delhi: Chief Minister Atishi ensures pothole-free Diwali, inspects roads – Delhi News

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi along with her cabinet colleagues on Monday inspected the condition of roads in the national capital and gave necessary directions as part of the government’s plan to repair all damaged Public Works Department (PWD) roads before Diwali.

The Delhi Chief Minister inspected the roads of NSIC Okhla, Modi Mill Flyover, Chirag Delhi, Tughlakabad Extension, Mathura Road and Ashram Chowk.

Speaking to the media after her inspection, Atishi said, “For two days, Arvind Kejriwal and I inspected the roads of Delhi and found that the condition of the roads is very bad…Arvind Kejriwal called all the party MPs and…” Ministers should work towards restoring Delhi’s roads as soon as possible…”

“I have taken charge of roads in south and southeast Delhi. Saurabh Bharadwaj will be responsible for inspecting roads in East Delhi, Gopal Rai will inspect roads in North East Delhi, Imran Hussain will inspect roads in Central and New Delhi districts, Kailash Gehlot will be in charge of South West and External Delhi will be in charge and Mukesh Sehrawat will be in charge of north-west Delhi… We will try to give pothole-free roads to the people of Delhi by Diwali…,” she added.

According to the Delhi government’s road assessment and repair plan, after a week-long inspection of the 1,400 km stretch of PWD roads, a decision will be made as to which roads require “full repair”, “partial repair” and which need reconstruction. Repair work begins one week after the inspection.

Earlier last week, a letter from Arvind Kejriwal was handed over to the chief minister during the Assembly session, asking her to repair the damaged roads in the city.

The chief minister said that the roads in the city were damaged due to work carried out by the Discoms and Delhi Jal Board and the repair work was not carried out thereafter.
