Josh Allen has an early contender for the best pass of the year

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen made a ridiculous pass in his pocket on Sunday to keep his team alive in Week 4.

The Bills trailed the Baltimore Ravens 21-3 early in the third quarter at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Bills scored on a 3rd-and-5 at their own 45 on their first drive of the half. Allen was chased out of the pocket and had to run to the sideline. Three different Ravens defenders came at him as he appeared to be frantically throwing the football.

But instead of simply getting rid of the ball to avoid negative yards, Allen somehow found Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir for a 52-yard gain.

Allen’s throw was extremely difficult for several reasons. The Bills quarterback had to maintain his composure as several Ravens defenders came into his orbit. He also had to make the throw because his momentum drove him out of bounds.

Shakir may have been open, but only a handful of players have the arm strength Allen needs to even consider that throw.

The Bills scored a rushing touchdown and cut the lead to 21-10 one play later. Allen’s play gave Buffalo momentum in what had previously been a one-sided affair.

Buffalo was down three points early, which several Bills fans attributed to Sean McDermott’s questionable decision-making in the first half.
