4 were arrested after fleeing a traffic stop while driving through a movie shoot in Madison County

MADISON CO., Miss. (WLBT) – Four teenagers are in custody after fleeing a traffic stop in Madison County.

According to a news release, the incident occurred on September 27 at 10:11 a.m.

According to the news release, Madison County Constable Richard “Taco” Johnson attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Nissan Parkway for a traffic violation.

The black 2016 Dodge Charger refused to stop and fled east before turning onto Highway 51. The vehicle then traveled south through residential and commercial areas.

The press release states that the vehicle was also traveling through an area where traffic was closed in both directions due to filming.

Madison County sheriff’s deputies, who were helping close the road for filming, were ignored by the driver as he sped through the area.

An officer on the north end of the area was nearly hit after the driver of the Dodge Charger failed to comply with his commands.

The driver continued south on Highway 51, eventually losing control of the vehicle and wrecking before coming to rest in a ditch near the intersection of Highway 51 and Hard Times Road.

According to the report, the four occupants of the vehicle fled but were arrested shortly afterwards.

The four inmates were all 18 years old and face the following charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance while possessing a firearm
  • Disorderly behavior
  • Resisting arrest

The driver faces additional charges of fleeing, aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road and improper starting.

All four suspects are being held at the Madison County Detention Center.

“I am grateful that this potentially dangerous situation was able to end without harm or loss of life to innocent bystanders,” said Constable Richard “Taco” Johnson. “I would also like to thank law enforcement officers from the Gluckstadt Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and others who worked closely as a team to arrest all individuals and find a solution to this situation.”
