Michigan girl, 7, stabbed; 13-year-old sister in custody: police

A 7-year-old Michigan girl is dead and her 13-year-old sister is in police custody after officers found the victim with multiple stab wounds in her home.

Taylor police were called to a home to investigate a domestic dispute around 1 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found a 7-year-old girl with stab wounds, police said. She was taken to hospital where she later died.

WJBK spoke with several neighbors who were stunned when they heard what happened.

“When my grandma told me I was horrified because they were best friends and always played together. They had My Little Pony toys and played with each other,” “Matthew,” an acquaintance of the sisters, told the local station.

Police said they would not release many details at this time due to the nature of the crime and were handling the situation sensitively given the involvement of minors.

Neighbors shared more details with WJBK about the sisters and their encounters in the neighborhood.

“Every now and then I would come here to my grandma’s and see the little girl riding her bike down the street and I would go play with her,” Matthew said. “All she wanted to do was be friends with everyone.”

Police are investigating a domestic dispute that left a seven-year-old girl dead and her 13-year-old sister in police custody. (WJBK)

The 13-year-old girl is being held at a juvenile detention center in Detroit. Taylor police are investigating whether anyone was home at the time of the argument.

“This is a tragic event for the family and we are ensuring the necessary resources are made available to support everyone involved. We ask the public to respect the family’s privacy as we conduct a thorough investigation,” police said in Taylor’s statement.

Officials said more details about the case would be released Monday, but names would not be released at this time.

Fox News Digital reached out to Taylor police for comment on the situation.
