Lebanon: Hassan Nasrallah’s body was recovered from the Beirut crater during a rally by the Axis of Resistance against Israel

The body of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was recovered from a dead man in Beirut after an Israeli strike killed the terror chief on Saturday as the Axis of Resistance demonstrated against Israel’s “terrible crime.”

Nasrallah’s death dealt a particularly severe blow to the group he led for 32 years, and was followed by fresh rocket fire from Hezbollah into Israel, while Iran said his death would be avenged.

US Senator Mark Kelly, who chairs a Senate Armed Services subcommittee, said the bomb Israel used to kill Nasrallah was a US-made 900kg guided missile.

Nasrallah’s body was recovered unharmed from the site of Friday’s attack, a medical source and a security source told Reuters on Sunday.

Hezbollah has not yet said when his funeral will take place.

Nassallah’s body reportedly bore no wounds, suggesting he was killed by the blunt force of the powerful explosion.

The deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, was also killed in the explosion.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the attack a “terrible crime” that will not go unanswered.

“There is no doubt that this terrible crime of the Zionist regime (Israel) will not go unanswered,” he said in a statement to the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami.

As Iranian state media reported, the speaker of Iran’s parliament said earlier Sunday that armed groups allied with Iran would continue to confront Israel with Tehran’s help after Nasrallah was killed.

An alliance called the Axis of Resistance, built over decades with Iranian support, includes the Palestinian group Hamas, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen and various armed Shiite Muslim groups in Iraq and Syria.

“We will not hesitate to support the resistance at every level,” said spokesman Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

He also issued a warning to the United States.

“The United States is complicit in all these crimes and … must accept the consequences,” he said.

When asked about Nasrallah’s killing, Iranian Vice President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif told state media on Sunday that Iran would respond against Israel at a time of its choosing.

The vow of revenge comes as the Houthis declare that they too will seek revenge for Israeli attacks in Yemen.

Israel dropped bombs on Houthi targets in Yemen in response to rockets fired at Israel by Iran-aligned rebels in recent days.

At least four people were killed and 33 injured in the Israeli strikes, the Houthi-run health ministry said in a statement. Residents said the bombing caused power outages in most parts of the port city of Hodeidah.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that “no place is too far” for a military attack.

“I visited the command and control room of the IAF (Israeli Air Force) where I monitored the attack against the Houthi terrorist organization.

“Our message is clear: no place is too far for us.”

The Israeli military said in a statement that dozens of aircraft, including fighter jets, attacked power plants and a seaport in Hodeidah and the port of Ras Issa.

Footage of a fire explosion in Yemen quickly circulated on social media, showing the destruction caused by the targeted attacks.
