Danny Dyer says his family has had to “get to the front lines” to support daughter Dani while her fiancé Jarrod Bowen has been “away all summer” as he “juggles” his grandfather’s duties.

Danny Dyer has revealed he and his family helped his daughter Dani raise their three children while her fiancé Jarrod Bowen was at the European Championships this summer.

The former EastEnders star, 47, welcomed his first grandchild when his daughter Dani Dyer, 28, gave birth to three-year-old Santiago with her former partner Sammy Kimmence.

Then in 2023, the reality star gave birth to twins Summer and Star with footballer Jarrod Bowen, and their father has explained how he and his wife Joanne Mas, 47, are alongside parenting Sunnie, 17, and son Arty too help with babysitting, 10.

He told The Sunday Times Style Magazine: “Jarrod is a great dad but he’s very busy.” He was away all summer and Dani was flying back and forth.

“It’s difficult to balance that and the children, so like you, we came to the front as a family.” “We’re just trying to raise decent people.”

Danny – who had been dating Joanne Mas for decades when they tied the knot in 2016 – also noted that watching his daughter have children was a strange phenomenon.

He said, “It’s crazy to see your kids having kids.” My Dani, she’s such a great person. We have a special bond.

“We had her when I was 18, so I was just a baby myself. We grew up together. She has seen my ups and downs and is one of my very best friends.”

Although Danny was “not thrilled” when his eldest signed up for the ITV2 dating show, they have since become a joint presenting duo.

Danny also noted that he and Jo are stepping in to take on babysitting duties as both his daughter and future son-in-law Jarrod, 27, travel a lot for work.

He admitted that while it’s a lot to “juggle that and the kids,” it’s something they “just do” as a family to raise a “decent group” of kids.

When she became a grandfather for the first time, Dani said her father woke up while admitting he had “never” felt like that before and became unexpectedly emotional.

Speaking on the Made By Mammas podcast, she said: “My dad didn’t know.” [he] would be so emotional [about being a granddad]. He was so emotional in Santiago that he actually cried the other day.

“He said, ‘I love babies, but your baby. I’ve never felt anything like this before. I didn’t think I would feel this way.

Dani has been dating the West Ham star since October 2021 and the couple recently got engaged.

Danny is a loyal West Ham United supporter and recently admitted he wasn’t sure what to say when he met his future son-in-law.

But when he met Jarrod at a family gathering for Bonfire Night, he knew immediately that it was “true love” between the two.

He told TalkSport: “ What do you say to him? I wanted to take off his shoes, put his feet on the sofa and give him a nice massage. But you don’t want to go in too hard!

“All I want to see, like every father, is that my daughter is in love, and if they’re not with the right person, they’re not the same.” Something’s wrong.

“And she was my Dani before him.” That’s love. He gets it and it’s a beautiful thing. Maybe I pushed it a little too much, but it’s true love between the two. ‘
