“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has been dethroned by a new film in Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 list

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has been dethroned by a new film in Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 list

Well, that didn’t last too long. After taking the top spot on Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies list, Beetlejuice has returned to No. 2, replaced by the Deadpool and Wolverine movie it originally displaced.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” is extremely attractive despite its R rating after grossing $1.3 billion. Not that Beetlejuice didn’t deliver an excellent performance as well, and it’s more than likely that we’ll see a third film in the series, undoubtedly called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. I’m not going to lie, I’m already tired of putting Beetlejuice in this article.

The rest of the list contains more popular films that are now available for a low rental price. Rent for “Despicable Me 4” is now $6, while “Twisters” is now $10. Meanwhile, “Deadpool and Wolverine” still costs $25 to rent or $30 to purchase. You should probably just buy it at this price.

Alien Romulus is at number 5, the well-received entry in the series and the highest rated since the original two films. I’m a little surprised to see “The Wild Robot” debuting at #9 given how overwhelmingly well received it was as the best children’s film of the year, but I expect that number to increase over time as people notice that he is outside. I think it just came out on streaming yesterday to rent or buy.

I completely agree that everyone should see Trap (#10), an almost completely bloodless horror film that wasn’t particularly well received by critics, but M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film is actually very good, and Josh Hartnett rightly deserves an Oscar nomination. Of course that will never happen, but I’m serious. He is so great in this film.

I expect Deadpool and Wolverine to stay in the top 3 of the list for a very long time, and even longer if they end up lowering the rental price. It is the second highest-grossing film of the entire year, behind only Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” which grossed $1.69 billion. That includes “Despicable Me 4” with $961 million. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, its current competitor on the list, grossed $422 million and is in the top 10, a very good performance. I was curious to see where this landed, and Joker: Folie a Deux, the sequel to the $1 billion original, is at number 20 with $165 million, an extremely spectacular failure by any measure.

We’ll be checking back soon to see how the list changes from here.

Trends and opportunities for 2024

Trends and opportunities for 2024

Home service franchises are adapting to consumer demands by prioritizing convenience through technology while capitalizing on the trend toward sustainability.

In recent years we have experienced a number of changes Home service industry caused by changes in consumer preferences. These market trends are redefining the status quo and presenting both challenges and opportunities for home service companies.

Such a business is HorsePower brandsa franchising company whose portfolio includes home services brands such as Mighty Dog Roofing, Gatsby glass And Bumblebee blinds. 1851 Franchise recently spoke with the Chief Marketing Officer of HorsePower Brands Laura Vodvarka Here are some insights into these industry trends and their impact on home services franchises.

The focus is on comfort and efficiency

That shouldn’t be a surprise Convenience and efficiency are top priorities for consumers. That’s why home service franchises are leveraging technology and optimizing their processes to meet this demand and provide their busy customers with conveniences like easy scheduling and “hassle-free” experiences.

“We continue to see increasing booking rates for our locations,” Vodvarka said. “It’s clear that customers want the ability to organize their lives when they have time. Often outside of business hours and on weekends. We’ve seen our online booking rates increase every month for the last six-plus months. Up to 10-20% of our leads book directly with us rather than calling and filling out forms.”

As the bar for customer expectations continues to rise, convenience and choice are no longer novelties, but rather a must for every home service business. For example, it is no longer enough to simply book an appointment online.

“[T]“They want to book with us through social media or through a Google search directory without having to go all the way to our website,” Vodvarka explained. “We have also expanded our opening hours so that customers can call 24 hours a day to better assist with their needs. Responsiveness to customer needs and ability to meet customer schedules are frequently mentioned in our Google reviews, indicating a customer-focused approach to service.”

Sustainability and eco-friendly practices

A trend that has come to the forefront in the last decade or so has been green, sustainable companies. Consumers – and Millennials in particular – have become more environmentally conscious and are now looking for purpose-driven brands that are committed to environmental sustainability.

This is a challenge (and opportunity) that has been embraced by the home service franchises operating under the HorsePower Brands umbrella. Bumble Bee Blinds, for example, has made a point of working with providers who prioritize sustainability and energy efficiency.

“Environmentally conscious forestry practices, sustainable manufacturing methods that include recycling, water conservation, minimal packaging and a commitment to using Greenguard certified materials are all ways that Bumble Bee Blinds suppliers provide value to environmentally conscious customers,” stated Brand President Luke Schwartz. “In addition, several providers offer products that significantly reduce consumers’ energy consumption. These products qualify for the Federal Energy Efficiency Tax Credit.”

Gatsby Glass, on the other hand, has actually integrated consumers’ desire for sustainable solutions into its services. “Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important to consumers as they begin to recognize the benefits of glass in their designs,” said Brand President Kelley Hoven. “Daylighting, an eco-friendly building trend, utilizes glass walls in the overall design, allowing more natural light to flow through an interior space, reducing the need for electric lighting and therefore energy costs.”

By embracing sustainability and offering eco-conscious options, home service franchises can attract these environmentally conscious consumers and align with their evolving values.

Making the most of home services market trends

There is no doubt that the home services industry is undergoing change, driven by changing consumer expectations. Franchises that successfully adapt to these trends and prioritize convenience and sustainability will be well positioned to thrive in the ever-changing marketplace. By embracing these changes in the industry, home service franchises can thrive in this increasingly competitive market.

Video: 2025 Chevy Tahoe & Suburban Drive Smoothly, Even with 24s!

Video: 2025 Chevy Tahoe & Suburban Drive Smoothly, Even with 24s!

The refreshed 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are here. They are now starting to deliver to retailers. 24-inch wheels are available as an option, and here’s how it feels to ride. Let’s dive in!

These are the best-selling three-row full-size SUVs in the country. The chassis is largely unchanged, the engines are the same, but the suspension has been adjusted to accommodate larger and heavier wheels and tires. You can get a new Tahoe or Suburban with a 24-cylinder from the factory. Adding larger wheels and tires to a production vehicle is no easy task. Chevrolet had to comply with all relevant government regulations. Chevrolet chose the low-profile tires to maximize comfort while ensuring payload and towing capacity.

The low-profile tires generally make the ride harsh, but the air suspension, shocks and tires on the Suburbans I tested provide a very comfortable and smooth ride. I only had limited time in these new SUVs, but I was able to drive these huge SUVs on various paved roads and highways near Dallas, TX. The suspension is able to absorb most of the uneven road surface. Cobblestones are a challenge for any vehicle, and it’s a challenge for the new Suburban on 24s. Still, it’s impressive what they can achieve with a fancy chassis these days.

The new design, new interior design and new technology have a higher price. The base 2025 Chevy Tahoe costs about $5,300 more than a comparable 2024 model (see detailed pricing breakdown below).

Our more detailed test report on the first drive will follow tomorrow. In the meantime, please enjoy the videos below.

The Chevy Suburban will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2025. This is the longest continuously running automotive nameplate in the industry. The Tahoe and Suburban are built in Arlington, TX (near Dallas and Fort Worth).

Here’s a detailed pricing and performance breakdown for the new 2025 Tahoe and Suburban.

The federal court says Texas AG Ken Paxton can continue investigating vote harvesting

The federal court says Texas AG Ken Paxton can continue investigating vote harvesting

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton can continue investigating allegations of so-called vote harvesting during the November election, a U.S. appeals court said Tuesday. Critics fear the decision could have a chilling effect on voter outreach and turnout in the state.

The three-judge U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday granted a temporary stay of certain portions of SB 1, or the 2021 Texas Election Law, including a provision of the law that allows Paxton’s office to continue its investigation into alleged illegal actions. at least until the elections on November 5th.

The stay will remain in effect until a full appeal of the law is either granted or rejected, according to the appeal decision.

Her decision temporarily overturns U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez’s ruling late last month. Rodriguez ordered an immediate halt to SB 1’s voting provision, joining plaintiffs who argued that the provision was too vague and constituted a restriction on free speech.

He also acknowledged “widespread confusion” about what constitutes the illegal practice of vote harvesting in Texas.

TED CRUZ warns that the Texas Senate race is “incredibly close.”

Paxton had immediately said he would appeal that decision, arguing that the vote harvesting component of SB 1 was critical to protecting election integrity in Texas and preventing voter fraud.

“Blocking our ability to investigate certain election crimes would have been a serious disruption to the electoral landscape with only a month left until Election Day,” Paxton said at the time.

Still, the vaguely defined scope of vote-gathering has led some advocacy groups and voter initiatives in Texas to halt their canvassing, volunteer work and other in-person election events altogether for fear of being caught up in a raid or of providing food or transportation to volunteers could potentially be considered “compensation,” which is illegal under law.

Writing for the three-judge appeals court on Tuesday, Judge James Ho appeared to support Paxton’s claim, noting that the provision in question had been on the books for “over three years” before the federal judge’s decision last month.

Still, the plaintiffs in the lawsuit say their confusion remains over the vague definition of vote harvesting, which in turn has had a chilling effect on volunteerism in the state.

This is due in part to the high penalties for those convicted of the crime, which is classified as a third-degree felony under SB 1.

BIDEN’S ON THE WAY: THE PRESIDENT AND THE FIRST LADY’S CAMPAIGN ON THE BIGGEST BATTLEFIELD

Individuals who provide, offer or receive “compensation or other benefit” for so-called vote collection services can be convicted of a third-degree felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to $10,000, according to SB 1 fines.

According to the text of the law, “vote harvesting services” include any “personal interaction with one or more voters in the physical presence of an official ballot or an absentee ballot for the purpose of casting votes for a particular candidate or measure.” .

Paxton’s office previously said: “secure elections are the cornerstone of our republic.”

In August, his office’s Election Integrity Unit conducted searches in three South Texas counties as part of the ongoing investigation, which were reportedly carried out only after officials had collected enough evidence to obtain proper search warrants.

But the plaintiffs allege that his office used the provision to conduct illegal “voter raids” against interest groups and organizers in Texas.

Juan Proaño, the CEO of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, lamented the ruling and told Fox News in an interview on Tuesday that his group would appeal the case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.

“It’s really scary for our community,” Proaño told SB 1’s Fox News, pointing out that the provisions have already had a “significant” chilling effect on voters and stakeholders in Texas – which she said was both unwarranted and used as a potential means of voter suppression.

“There is no data at all that would actually show that non-citizens are participating in the electoral process,” he said, adding that LULAC “stands for election integrity.”

And so we will continue to take this case all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to.”

The Money Stop: Betting Guide for the South Point 400 in Las Vegas

The Money Stop: Betting Guide for the South Point 400 in Las Vegas

By Cole Cusumano, Staff Writer

Betting is almost always better when Las Vegas is in play, but especially when the NASCAR Cup Series returns to Sin City for the playoffs. Whether you’re placing prop bets through trusted sportsbooks or participating in GridRival’s many unique daily fantasy contests, the Money Stop podcast will let bettors learn how to hit the jackpot in the opening game of the Round of 16.

For those who don’t know, the “Money Stop” – usually the final pit stop of the race – is considered the most important stop of the day. It’s not often that a team wins the race without meeting the money freeze. The Money Stop Podcast is a NASCAR gambling show hosted by industry journalist Cole Cusumano and his brother, the voice of New York Yankees Somerset Patriots doubles partner Steven.

The Cusumano brothers introduced “The Money Stop” podcast in 2021, coining the slogan “The most important NASCAR betting stop of the day,” because bettors can’t cash out their money without watching their show, which includes Kickin’ the Tires and GridRival presents is streamed weekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.

Before venturing into Las Vegas, it is important to provide evidence of a tremendous success rate. In the last two races at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and the Charlotte (NC) ROVAL, the Cusumano brothers highlighted seven top-10 finishes in each race, including four top-5 finishes. For the Bank of America ROVAL 400, they suggested 17 prop bets, 11 of which hit once the checkered flag waved.

Now that you understand what The Money Stop podcast is, in addition to the proven results, here are the five shortest odds to win the South Point 400 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway as of the start of the Lines on October 15, per BetMGM:

  • Kyle Larson +325
  • William Byron +700
  • Tyler Reddick +800
  • Christopher Bell +800
  • Denny Hamlin +800

Favorites

Rightly so, Kyle Larson is considered a big favorite to win in Las Vegas for many reasons. One contributing factor is that the 2021 champions will pick up their sixth win of the season in the series and their second in the postseason. The other obvious detail is that he confidently took the checkered flag in the last race at the 1.5-mile track in March after leading 181 laps.

In the next-gen era, you could argue that no one is better in Las Vegas than Larson. He has won in five starts and finished second twice, leading most laps. He achieved a career top-10 rate of 75%, finishing in the top five in half of his 16 starts, in addition to a series average of 9.3 and a margin of over 620 in most rounds.

With his Vegas numbers in mind, Larson has also established himself as one of the best drivers on traditional 1.5-mile tracks in the seventh-generation car. This season alone he has won by 321 laps. Since its introduction in 2022, it has four wins and four runner-up finishes, each by over 1,200 laps.

To name another favorite and differentiate themselves from the Hendrick Motorsports squad – who should be viewed as the team to beat in Sin City, their strength and dominance cannot be overlooked Christopher Bell and the No. 20 team this postseason.

The 29-year-old looks to be anything but a lock in his third consecutive Championship 4 appearance, posting a series-best average finish of 6.3 in six playoff starts. Beyond the postseason, Bell has finished seventh or better seven times in his last eight races, with his weakest finish being a 14th-place finish on the day at the Watkins Glen (NY) International.

With his second runner-up finish of the season at the ROVAL and his three wins, Bell has already matched his career highs set two years earlier in 2024 with four races to go in wins, top-five finishes (12) and place one reached 10 seconds (20), taking it to a track where he finished second last fall.

Bell has achieved three top-10 finishes in Las Vegas in the next-gen era, including another top-five finish. Perhaps even more notable, he has a win at a 1.5-mile track this season – albeit shortened in Charlotte due to rain – as well as two other top-10 finishes, including a seventh place finish in the had the most laps lead in the last race at Kansas Speedway.

Honestly, from a statistical perspective, there are better drivers to bet on as favorites to win in Vegas, but it’s impossible to ignore the crisis that Joe Gibbs Racing’s talent is currently in. Find out who the other two are by listening to “The Money Stop.”

Sleepers & Spoilers

By thinking outside the box about which drivers can serve as sleepers or spoilsports to victory, bettors can really optimize their values and get the most for their money. It’s also the section where The Money Stop has excelled every year, including this season.

In six playoff races, half of the winners were spoilers, and two of those drivers were highlighted by the Cusumano brothers on the show with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Talladega and the winner at Kansas, who was also expected to be a threat to the checkered flag on that one Upcoming 1.5 mile route: Ross Chastain.

Chastain surprised with his first win of the season in Kansas, and there’s good reason to believe he could come out on top again in Las Vegas. Trackhouse Racing’s ‘Disruptor’ joins Larson as the only other drivers to finish in the top five in all Next Gen starts at Sin City. The difference is that the No. 1 driver happens to have the best average finish in the series at 5.3, thanks to an exceptional 12th-place finish, in contrast to Larson’s only DNF.

The Melon Man also has the third most laps led in Vegas in the current car behind Larson and William Byron with over 150, including the last race in March. Chastain posted a career-best second place finish at the fall 2022 event. The weekend opens at +1800 for the win, which bettors may want to back in addition to his top-five finisher at +225 before the odds adjust following Saturday’s on-track activity.

Another sleeper, also from the Hendrick stable and bowtie brigade, will be a gut feeling Chase Elliott. The reason the 2020 champion enters as an intuitive choice is because his only top-10 finish in four Next Gen starts in Las Vegas doesn’t exactly scream, “Bet him to win.” The timeliness and the However, eye tests tell a different story.

Elliott finished fifth in the ROVAL, marking his fourth outstanding postseason appearance. This helped him post the third-best average finish in the series in the playoffs at 12.0, which is also right on par with his best average finish of the season in the series despite making 32 starts and finishing at 11.7.

Consistency aside, Elliott has quietly asserted himself as one of the best drivers of 2024 on traditional 1.5-mile courses. The No. 9 driver posted a top-10 finish in four of five starts, including a win at Texas Motor Speedway and a worst finish of 12th, giving him a best average finish of 6.4 in this particular configuration in the series.

Additionally, Elliott enjoyed success at Vegas shortly before the current car’s introduction in 2022, having led all 170 of his laps over the past five years, including a runner-up finish in the fall of 2021.

Despite being the most consistent driver in the sport, Elliott has been criticized for being quiet for most of the season. As he enters the Round of 8 in seventh place, nine points below the cutoff, he will need to make some noise in the semi-finals if he wants to challenge for his second championship. His race winner rating of +1400 and top five finisher rating of +190 are also very enticing.

For two more favorites and sleepers each, tune in to The Money Stop podcast later this week. This article will also be updated with daily fantasy value tips and specific prop bets to consider as contests become available on GridRival later in the week.

What we can learn from animals about death and mortality

What we can learn from animals about death and mortality

“We are not the only animal that understands death, nor are we the only one that mourns, nor the only one that kills intentionally or for fun,” she writes. “Scientists have long been trying to find a feature that will definitively distinguish us from other species. So far all candidates have fallen. Neither the use of tools, nor culture, morality, or rationality are reserved for humans.” is the concept of death.”

Ars chatted with Monsó to find out more.

The author and philosopher Susana Monsó studies how different animal species react to death.

Princeton University Press

Cover for “Playing Possum.”

“The concept of death is by no means an exclusively human attribute, but is widespread in the animal kingdom.”

Princeton University Press

Ars Technica: As a relatively new discipline, you believe that comparative thanatology needs philosophy. Can you tell us more about what philosophy entails?

Susana Monsó: I think philosophy is very helpful for science in general. You have to study philosophy when you do science because you have to make philosophical choices whenever you decide what topics to focus on, what kind of questions to ask, what kind of methodology to use, how to get the results analyze and how to interpret these results. All of these are philosophical decisions. So science already has philosophy within it.

But sometimes a philosopher’s approach is required. Philosophers are trained in conceptual analysis. Most scientists are aware of the importance of conceptual characterizations or definitions, but very often they think that as long as they provide a definition and the definition is clearly stated in the paper, they have to do anything. As long as we’re all clear about how we use the terms, that’s all.

I think this is wrong because not all definitions are the same. Not all characterizations are created equal, and the way you characterize your terms will determine much of what comes after. Therefore, I think philosophy has the ability to analyze concepts and determine how best to characterize them. Philosophers have an advantage because we don’t have to do empirical research, which requires a very narrow focus. When you do an experiment you can’t deal with a very big question, it has to be a small question. Sometimes scientists lose sight of the big picture. Philosophy has the advantage of being able to look at things from a larger perspective and think about how different issues relate to each other, how different areas are connected, and so on.

Bobcats open district play against Rogers

Bobcats open district play against Rogers

After a bye week, the Comfort High football team will return to action Friday to open district play.

Comfort hosts Rogers this week at Bobcat Stadium at 7 p.m. as they begin District 13-3A DII action.

Comfort is 2-3 outside of district and Rogers is 1-6 overall. The Eagles opened district play last week and lost to Blanco 46-39, leaving them 0-1 in district.

Rogers has just one win, but Comfort coach Jay Rieken said their record isn’t a true measure of how good the Eagles really are.

Rieken points out that Rogers scored a lot of points in his games and the Eagles scored 63 points in their lone win againstschulenburg.

“They are the best 1-6 team I have ever seen, they are a goal machine,” he said. “If you look at who they played, they played a really good schedule.”

The Eagles posted losses of 42, 46, 40 and 39 points and are averaging 35 points per game. They’ll attack a team with that option and Rieken said they’re doing it well.

“We have to play task football and be very disciplined,” he said. “If they use the option we have to make them indecisive on the pitch and hopefully we can get some turnovers.

“We have to slow them down and keep their offense off the field,” Rieken added.

The bye week was good for the Bobcats as they were able to get some rest and recovery.

“The attitude was great; We had great practices and you can tell that they concentrated better,” said Rieken.

The coach added that they are getting a starter back and may get another in time for Friday’s game.

“We are still trying to get players back and get back on our feet. We’ll definitely have one back and possibly two, which will help,” he said. “Just the return of this one player has made a big difference in training.”

As the Bobcats head into the final part of their season, Rieken said it’s the little things they need to focus on.

“We have to keep getting better and get a win,” he said. “We need to avoid some penalties. Against Bandera (on October 4), nine penalties were called from the middle of the third quarter, and all of them were against us.”
