Texas A&M healthy for Mississippi State matchup

Texas A&M healthy for Mississippi State matchup

STARKVILLE, Miss. (KBTX) – Texas A&M enters Saturday’s game at Mississippi State somewhat healthy for the first time since the start of the season.

Third-string quarterback Jaylen Henderson was the lone addition to the “out” category on Saturday’s gameday availability report. According to a team spokesman, Henderson suffered an undisclosed injury during practice.

Athlete Terry Bussey, who has spent most of this season at wide receiver, was listed on the report during the week but will be available on Saturday.

Running back Reuben Owens and center Mark Nabou Jr. remain listed as out after both suffered season-ending injuries earlier this year. Nickel Tyreek Chappell is also out as he recovers from an injury that head coach Mike Elko said is a long-term recovery.

Ranking Curse

Texas A&M has played Mississippi State nine times since joining the SEC and was ranked in the Associated Press top 25.

The Bulldogs have a 5-4 record in those meetings, including a 4-1 mark in the last five meetings in which the Aggies were ranked.

The Aggies twice finished in the top 10 of the AP poll in Starkville, suffering losses on both occasions. It is known that the Aggies were ranked fourth in the inaugural College Football Playoff Top 25 the week of the 2016 Mississippi game, but an injury to then-starting quarterback Trevor Knight during the game spelled trouble for the Aggies in a 35-28 win .

Two of A&M’s victories over the ranked Bulldogs came in 2012 and 2013 under the watch of quarterback Johnny Manziel. The other two were 2015 (30-17) and 2020 (28-14).

Texas ties

Mississippi State has 12 players from the state of Texas on its roster. Three of those 12 players are from Katy.

Of note, defensive lineman Sulaiman Kpaka transferred from Purdue to Starkville and was a teammate of A&M transfer defensive end Nic Scourton.

Offensive lineman Ethan Miller transferred from North Texas, although he is originally from West Harford, CT

This is the maximum amount you can receive by check from Social Security starting in 2025

This is the maximum amount you can receive by check from Social Security starting in 2025

If you had to describe how you would deal with it social security As your life progresses, the phrase “careful planning” would come to mind. Most of the decisions you make throughout your career will undoubtedly impact the amount and quality of your retirement. From your chosen career path to the jobs you’ve held. Every decision you make affects your income, and what you do with that money reflects changes in the dynamics of your life as a retiree.

However, not all of us have the skills to understand how Social Security works in detail or the knowledge to anticipate its impact over time. However, we may have significant income that influences our financial decisions about how to get the most out of ours Social Security Benefits thus putting to the test the money we have saved over time. Some strategies will help you get the maximum amount Social Security can afford in monthly retirement benefits. However, you need to learn more about how the SSA administers this retirement insurance program. Learn more about how much Social Security can pay you and how to get it here.

How does COLA affect your maximum Social Security benefit?

The first thing to understand is what exists social security The system is based on a premise similar to car or home insurance. Many people pool their money into a single fund that a company invests in over time. The insurance company uses this fund to cover the cost of the event when an event occurs.

This works in part because not everyone will experience an event during the period they have their insurance policy paid for, and your premium will vary depending on your risk profile. This is a similar situation to Social Security. The system depends largely on the number of people who contribute Social Security Taxes to create the means to pay all pensioners. But just as insurance companies have limits on how much they’ll cover for the car you crashed last night, the SSA has a cap on the maximum amount you can receive when you retire. Otherwise, the risk of running out of money will increase significantly (aside from existing statistics, the SSA has predicted that more federal funding will be needed to cover Social Security benefits by 2035).

This maximum is changed annually to keep pace with inflation and to ensure a generally stable level of purchasing power that does not leave retirees vulnerable to economic fluctuations. This is the time Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) appears on the show. The index was developed by the Social Security Administration to effect such changes. In 2025 it was set at 2.5%. It may not seem like much, but it increases your maximum withdrawal from $3,822 to $4,018.

Why should waiting to retire be a wise strategy for your Social Security?

You must meet two requirements to receive the maximum amount set by Social Security. First, your income should be enough to ensure that your retirement savings are at least $4,018 or more. Secondly, you have to achieve them Full Retirement Age (FRA). This refers to ages 70 or older.

Even if your income isn’t high enough to qualify for maximum Social Security benefits, you can still take steps to maximize your benefits by waiting for your FRA. The Social Security Administration (SSA) allows you to retire when you reach retirement age NRA (Normal Retirement Age)but it penalizes you by making you pay less. If you wait longer, the benefit percentage will increase until it is fully assessed at your FRA. Not everyone can afford to delay retirement, but it’s worth considering whether you can make enough money through side jobs and other investments.

UCLA Bruins football celebrates its first Big Ten win against Rutgers

UCLA Bruins football celebrates its first Big Ten win against Rutgers

The UCLA Bruins have finally ended their losing streak. Head coach DeShaun Foster and UCLA defeated their first Big Ten opponent of the season, defeating a talented Rutgers team 35-32.

With a season-high 21 points in the first half, the Bruins’ offense looked much more dynamic in a much-needed win. UCLA started the game strong with an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive and set the tone early.

In an explosive performance from quarterback Ethan Garbers, the Bruins signal-caller surpassed 400 total yards and finished the game with 32/38 passing, 383 yards through the air and five total touchdowns.

Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s struggling offense found a rhythm and created a solid framework for the Bruins’ future. The Bruins finally managed to establish the run, rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown.

UCLA’s defense played characteristically well and showed what this Bruins team is capable of when it’s firing on all cylinders.

Leading by nine heading into the fourth quarter, Foster and the Bruins finished the game and held on for the win.

For Foster, he secures his first Big Ten win and breathes life back into a program that desperately needs a boost. The Bruins look to continue their winning streak in two weeks at Nebraska.

El Farolito’s Dembor Benson was named the tournament’s lower division player by TheCup.us

El Farolito’s Dembor Benson was named the tournament’s lower division player by TheCup.us

Graphics by Phil Naegely

Two game-winning goals, an equalizer and the start away against bitter rivals. Dembor Benson has balanced quantity and quality in a red-hot Open Cup season. Benson scored four goals in three games, becoming the tournament’s top scorer despite only making it to the third round.

With a three-way tie for the Golden Boot, several players were in the running for the award. However, given the circumstances and the magnitude of Benson’s accomplishments, he was chosen as the clear winner of TheCup.us 2024 Lower Division Player of the Tournament award.

Benson is the first player from an NPSL team to win it since TheCup.us added a lower league version of the Player of the Tournament award in 2012.

“I was a little surprised because there are so many teams, there are so many good players and well, I understand it’s a little difficult (to win this award), but honestly I’m very happy,” Benson said , after finding out that he won the prize.

Benson came out on top, with NYCFC II’s Jonathan Jimenez finishing second. Jimenez led the tournament with four goals and two assists, helping NYCFC II (MLS NEXT Pro) advance to the round of 16 (and the $25,000 Division 3 prize money). Indy Eleven goalkeeper Hunter Sulte, who kept three clean sheets and helped his team advance to the semifinals, finished third.

At the start of the tournament, El Farolito seemed unstoppable. They subsequently caused surprises against professional teams, with Dembor Benson scoring four of the team’s five goals. The first goal came in the 68th minute in a 2-1 away win against Timbers2 (MLS NEXT Pro). This performance made him only the second Honduran native to be named TheCup.us Player of the Round, joining Romell Quioto, who won the award as a member of the Houston Dynamo (MLS) in the 2018 quarterfinals.

The next two goals came in the form of a brace against Central Valley Fuego (USL League One), where he equalized just before halftime and scored the winner in the 88th minute to secure his team’s place in the third round.

He scored his fourth and final goal of the tournament in the first half of an away game against local rivals Oakland Roots (USL Championship). El Farolito couldn’t hold on to the early lead as the Roots won 2-1 in extra time.

When asked about his thoughts on the early exit from the tournament despite his success in front of goal, he replied: “Well, the personal aspect was good to be honest, but we also knew that on paper they were the favorites We were good too, but we kept believing. We were like a family and knew that the other team would be stronger than us. Unfortunately, the expulsion broke us and what happened, happened. To be honest, if we hadn’t thrown that player out things would have been different because we felt very comfortable in that game and we won at the beginning. We felt really good in that game, but playing with one less man is difficult… we felt we could have done more.”

After an impressive few years at El Farolito, Benson’s performance earned him a spot with one of his opponents in the US Open Cup: USL League One team Central Valley Fuego, where he scored three goals in his first ten games.

When asked what inspires him to stay consistent, he said: “To be honest, the main thing that inspires me is my family,” Benson said of his . My family always looks after me. We will always watch football, that is our passion. My son, my wife and my mother, it’s a passion of theirs…they always support me and every time I take the pitch I say, ‘This is for my family.’ ‘I’m going to do it for my son, mine Wife and my family always educate and support me and I think that is the main motivation that drives me in every game.”

It’s time to respect Indiana as a true College Football Playoff contender after the Hoosiers’ win over Nebraska

It’s time to respect Indiana as a true College Football Playoff contender after the Hoosiers’ win over Nebraska

It’s time for your kids to sit down and have a serious conversation with them about the No. 16 Indiana Hoosiers being a legitimate College Football Playoff contender. No, I didn’t say the NCAA Tournament. Indiana could return there in March after missing last season, but for once it’s mid-October and the minds of Hoosier fans across the country aren’t on the upcoming basketball season.

They’re on the Peppermint Juggernaut, racing through the Big Ten on the football field.

Saturday’s game against Nebraska should be the first real test for the Hoosiers after a 6-0 start. It turns out that some tests are easier than expected; The Hoosiers defeated the Cornhuskers 56-7, just as they defeated everyone else in the “easy” portion of their schedule. It was a performance that reminded us that it’s never so much about who you play, but how you play.

And because Indiana has played through seven games, this team is in the conversation for a spot in the College Football Playoff and not in the “Oh, wouldn’t it be great if Indiana kept winning?” kind of way. In fact, the conversation should not be limited to as large a location as possible.

The way things are going, Indiana could be in Indianapolis a few hours before the Big Ten Championship Game.

Saturday’s win against Nebraska moves the Hoosiers to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Big Ten. Looking at the rest of the schedule gives the impression that Indiana won’t lose many games. Not because the schedule is easy, but because the Hoosiers are legitimately better than most of the remaining teams.

Indiana’s potential CFP future

Aside from a road game against Ohio State on November 23rd, the Hoosiers are expected to be the favorite in their remaining five games. Yes, even against Michigan.

If the Hoosiers win each of the games in which they are favored, they will be 11-1 and 8-1 in the Big Ten. Depending on how things pan out elsewhere, that could be good enough to get them to Indianapolis. Of course, if they lose to Ohio State, the Buckeyes would have to lose another game or else Ohio State would have the tiebreaker.

Regardless of the possible permutations, this is also a team that could clinch an at-large berth if they don’t reach the Big Ten title. If Indiana finishes 11-1, suffers its only loss on the road to Ohio State and is eliminated from the Big Ten title game, that would be a close call for an overall berth. If it gets to Indianapolis and loses again to Ohio State, Oregon or Penn State, it would be a 10-2 team with two prominent losses.

The only downside for the team would be the lack of a “signature win.” You know, that’s what people say about teams you wouldn’t expect to be there.

Of course, there’s still a lot to play for before the final College Football Playoff rankings are released in December. But the fact that we can talk about Indiana football like this and not have it be pure fanfiction is a testament to the work that Curt Cignetti and his players have done this season.

Basketball season can wait a few more months.
