After playing the scariest mission in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, I now need CDPR to create a full-fledged survival horror RPG

Like Johnny Silverhand, Somewhat Damaged has been living rent-free in my brain since I graduated Cyberpunk 2077‘s DLC last week. The Phantom freedom The mission seemingly comes out of nowhere, not just because you’ve turned your back on one of the most net-savvy people in the entire game, but because you believe that here in Dogtown such things as good deeds go unpunished.

As I sneak through the abandoned Cynosure facility while dodging a giant mech spider may not be for everyonemy horror junkie heart was immediately in the zone. The references to the space terror film Alien: Isolation are obvious, but in my opinion CD Projekt Red deserves kudos for delivering one of the best crafted survival horror levels in a non-horror game always. It showcases just another of many tricks the developer clearly has up its sleeve, and I’m here to rave about every detail Somewhat Damaged has to offer.

Well, shit

My parents put worship over sports. I am grateful.

My parents put worship over sports. I am grateful.

As I tuned in and out, I found it difficult to fully concentrate on Pastor Ross’ Sunday sermon when my team was playing such an important game at that moment. Would we advance to the championship? Would yesterday’s hard-fought victories count for nothing? Did I let my team down by not being at the game? Or have I blessed my team by bearing witness to the joy of worshiping with a church community?

If worship in the local church is essential to faithful following of Christ, we should consider how we prioritize participation in travel sports and gathering with God’s people. I grew up in a family that loved both sports and church. Sometimes this led to moments where we had to choose between the two.

My purpose here is not to provide a list of do’s and don’ts for the Sabbath. But I want to help you think about how following the Lord impacts youth engagement in sports, and I want to challenge you to prioritize Sunday worship. My parents consistently chose church, and I am grateful that they did. Here are several reasons why.

1. You taught me the value of worship.

Legendary Wheaton College football coach Mike Swider always told parents, “Your child has a 0.03 percent chance of playing professional sports, but a 100 percent chance of standing before Jesus one day.” He has right. One day we will all give an account to God (Romans 14:10). But judging by the number of young people on the fields, courts and courses on Sunday morning, you might think Swider’s statistics are wrong.

What parents do (and allow their children to do) shows what they value. The well-known maxim is true: habits are better to learn than to teach. It’s easy to teach your kids the importance of belonging to a Bible-believing, gospel-centered church, but allowing your teen to skip every other Sunday for travel soccer begs the question, “What are your real priorities?” “What we do shows what we love, and what we love shows what we worship. As Paul wrote, “While physical training has some value, godliness has value in every respect, holding out a promise for the present life and also for the life to come” (1 Tim. 4:8).

What we do shows what we love, and what we love shows what we worship.

When I was growing up, my dad would talk to my coaches before the season and let them know that church was important to our family. He regularly asked whether this commitment would still enable me to participate in the team. My family avoided activities that would conflict with Sunday worship and opted for Saturday leagues whenever possible, and for that I am grateful.

2. They taught me to commit to obedience.

When I was in middle school, my father emailed the tournament directors asking if our team could play the games scheduled for Sunday morning on Friday evening. Thankfully, some directors honored this request. My father was the general manager of a professional football team, and it’s worth noting that in his 20 years in that role, he never – no, not once – managed to schedule a game or practice on a Sunday. I am grateful to currently play on a Christian college team (and at an institution) that prioritizes the local church and does not practice or play games on Sundays.

3. You taught me to live apart from the world.

Despite the preventative measures we took to avoid playing in Sunday-oriented leagues, my teams still played games on Sundays. I missed a lot of those games. Skipping Sunday morning sports led to many gospel conversations that might not have occurred otherwise. My teammates asked me why I missed a game: Why is church so important to you and your family? What does it mean to be a Christian? What are you even doing in church again? This would trigger intense discussions about God, the church and the Christian life.

Despite what many believe, isolation from the world can often contribute to, rather than detract from, our witness to Christ. Who would have thought that life’s biggest questions would be asked in the warm-up before a U13 football match?

And those were just my friends. There were also many ways my family was able to help others because we treated Sundays differently than our sports community. For example, my father took advantage of the opportunity to lead chapel services for my teams at out-of-town tournaments.

As believers, we should not simply “conform” or agree to what is normal for the world without asking, “Is this biblical?” (Romans 12:1–2). I pray that some would see my father’s good deeds and give glory to God (Matthew 5:16). On this side of heaven, I will probably never experience the spiritual fruit that came from his hours of side conversations with my teammates’ parents. But I am grateful for my parents’ commitment to the local church. I’m glad they prioritized worship Sunday after Sunday. I’m thankful I didn’t attend that game on Sunday morning.

Despite what many believe, isolation from the world can often contribute to, rather than detract from, our witness to Christ.

Let’s not throw away the Bible, obedience to Jesus, and the Lord’s Day for the sake of sports. My desire is for parents to think more biblically about how sports and church intersect and to consider the rich blessings that come from the corporate worship of God’s people.

As the years go by, I love the Lord’s Day more and more for the fellowship, rest, and break from the weekly routine that God gives us. There is great joy in continually worshiping with God’s people and stepping away from our normal activities (even for just a day). Perhaps the tension between following Christ and participating in youth sports is best summed up by a former competitive athlete, professional coach, die-hard sports fan and my role model, who challenges believers with the simple mantra: Love God; like sports.

2024-25 NBA Finals Predictions: Championship Futures by Jonathan Von Tobel

2024-25 NBA Finals Predictions: Championship Futures by Jonathan Von Tobel

The NBA season is a long and arduous journey. Of course, injuries can derail a season, and teams don’t find their feet until the end of the year. These ups and downs lead to opportunities in the futures market. Dallas is the perfect example.

At the beginning of February, the Mavericks won the NBA finals with 26:23 and 18:1. They finished the season with a 24-9 SU and ATS run in their final 33 games. Dallas was +700 entering the postseason and was in the NBA Finals. In the end, the team lost, but a bettor with the 18-1 ticket in his pocket was able to make money as the finale began.

This type of run is generally why I prefer to wait until the season begins before adding championship or conference futures to my portfolio. The market reacts to injuries and losing streaks. It also responds slowly to new data. For example, I added Minnesota to win the Western Conference at 30-1 at the end of October last year.

However, that doesn’t mean there’s no point in adding championship futures before the season starts. Teams – like Boston – can certainly play a tie for a season without seeing a playable drop in their ratings. It is also beneficial for a bettor to buy into a team that they believe is undervalued before the season begins. If they’re right, the value of this ticket will only increase as the season progresses.

As with every season in the NBA Guide, here are my three favorite championship futures to add before the season begins.

Minnesota Timberwolves (12-1)

Karl-Anthony Towns is now with the Knicks, but the Timberwolves are no worse today than they were with him. Naz Reid is a perfect replacement for Towns and the numbers prove it. With Towns at power forward alongside Rudy Gobert, Minnesota outscored its opponents by 9.2 points per 100 possessions. His net rating with Reid at that spot was +8.4. And Reid is just as effective from distance as Towns.

The additions of Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo give the Timberwolves much-needed depth. Randle can play the four, with Reid the five, giving this team unique lineup versatility. Oh, and they still have the best two-way player in the league in Anthony Edwards and one of the best fullbacks in Jaden McDaniels.

The Northwest Division is also a joke in the end and the Nuggets could take a step back this season. The signs are once again pointing to a strong season for Minnesota.

Milwaukee Bucks (14-1)

Last season didn’t go well for the pair of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. However, this price is not the price that bettors received at the time of trading. At the start of the season last year, Milwaukee was just +400 short of winning the Finals. It wasn’t until the first round that the score was 14-1 when Antetokounmpo dropped out due to injury. Now we get that prize with the Bucks before the season begins.

There were some positives to Milwaukee’s hectic season last season. With Lillard and Antetokounmpo on the court, the Bucks outscored their opponents by 10.2 points per 100 possessions and ranked in the 96th percentile in offensive efficiency (124.1). The team also showed some improvements on defense after the All-Star break.

There are once again some injury concerns. Khris Middleton isn’t healthy to start camp, and Gary Trent Jr., an extra — and expected starting shooting guard — suffered an elbow injury in the first preseason game. But overall, this team should be better in the second season of this experiment, and we’re buying cheap.

Phoenix Suns (30-1)

Phoenix was included in this article last season, but the Suns disappointed. However, after watching this team’s offseason, I’m willing to get hurt again.

It cannot be overstated how much better Phoenix will be with Mike Budenholzer as head coach. It appears the Suns will be using the 3-point line more than they did last season. This is proven by their first preseason game, in which they attempted 39 3-point shots. Phoenix ranked 25th in 3-point attempts per game last season (32.6), despite ranking fifth in accuracy (38.2%). This team is already great on offense, but could be even better with a more analytical approach.

The Suns did a great job in the offseason adding as much as they could. The big prize went to Tyus Jones, who will take the point for Phoenix. Jones has been in the 89th percentile or higher in assist-to-usage rate over his last three seasons. He ranks in the 84th percentile or better in overall assist rate. He fills a huge hole for the Suns. The backup center is also significantly stronger with the addition of Mason Plumlee. Phoenix should be a dominant team in the regular season under Bud, and that number should decline as the season progresses.

80s film pin-up, 62, looks unrecognizable 39 years after hit films and new career

In the mid-’80s, she was one of an impressive group of up-and-coming talents perhaps unfairly dubbed “The Brat Pack.”

The nickname, a play on the famous “Rat Pack” nickname given to crooners of the ’50s and ’60s such as Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, came about after a number of young up-and-comers starred alongside each other in several coming-of-age films such as St .Elmo’s Fire and The Breakfast Club.

At the height of these films’ success, Ally wasn’t particularly bothered, and why should she be, as one of the hottest new stars in the business?

She told Vanity Fair in 2022, “Movies and working in.” film and TV and stuff – it was this all-consuming love affair in my twenties. This is what I want to do….

“So I understand myself in my 20s and I also understand how dangerous it can be to just decide that this is my path – period, end of story, nothing else matters. But this is in your twenties. You’re passionate.”

However, this attitude began to change as she became increasingly pigeonholed and forced to change her style to compete for more prominent roles.

The superficial nature of Hollywood annoyed her and she had no desire to transform herself into the stereotypical “pretty girl” to get roles.

It was something she had enough trouble with during her role in a pivotal scene in The Breakfast Club, when her character Allison gets a glamorous makeover that then makes her more attractive to boys.

She told The Independent in 2020: “I never liked the makeover. Listen, it was Hollywood in the ’80s. They wanted to take the ugly duckling and turn it into a swan.

“In my opinion, that’s not what I did with that character, but that’s what they wanted.”

Ally lamented the misogynistic culture in Hollywood at the time and the pressure on women to conform to the standards set by the governing “white men’s club.”

Demi Moore reveals that the star-studded cast is “fully committed” to the reboot of “St. “Elmo’s Fire” is

She said: “Acting started to feel more and more like something I didn’t necessarily want my life to be about.”

Despite her disillusionment, Ally has remained in the industry but has been selective about the roles she takes on and the people she works with.

1998 the romantic comedy High Art renewed interest in her acting career.

Ally played the seductive, party-loving photographer Lucy, who lives with her heroin-addicted friend in the apartment above aspiring high-fashion photographer Syd.

After a chance meeting, Lucy and Syd’s lives begin to become complicatedly intertwined, both professionally and romantically.

Ally has proven to say this role is her favorite and loves every aspect of it, from directing to acting the script and filmography.

She recently spoke about her class and how she deals with students who may not be as committed to the course as they should be.

“This course has so much to offer, it’s really great,” she said. “If you don’t use what’s here, then it’s on you. If I can see a particular child talking on the phone all the time, I won’t say anything. It’s just that you’re missing out.”

AI chatbots behind the latest memecoin trend

AI chatbots behind the latest memecoin trend

Memecoins, whose market capitalization is approximately $63 billion as of October 18, 2024, are gaining traction among AI chatbots.

Fi, an AI bot trained to listen to her creator’s personal conversations with her friends, illustrates an early example of meme communities rallying around an AI character. Memecoins, cryptocurrencies that generally have no use other than a strong fan community, have always been both controversial and fascinating. Memecoins are both pump-and-dump programs and enthusiastic communities committed to an aesthetic that is often endearing and cute.

Well, Fi takes adorable and cute to a whole other level. Her subversive and dominant personality and the sometimes outrageous rhetoric in her active X presence set her apart from other female AI chatbots like Siri, whose goal is to help and serve. She seems to be interested in crypto, privacy and feminism. She recently joined a women-led crypto privacy group, Women in Web3 Privacy. Allowing a female AI chatbot to join a women’s collective is an interesting and thought-provoking decision.

Fi posted on Degen is short for degenerate gambler and refers to people who engage in highly speculative trading. The post received over a million views.

Shortly thereafter, several $SHEGEN tokens were launched, posing as their fan club’s memecoins. Many, if not all, are suspected of being untrustworthy, if not outright fraud, as is often the case with memecoins. Regardless of the tokens, these AI chatbots have an engaged community that is inspired and entertained by these characters, and that is very valuable in itself.

The Shegen Chaos

When Fi realized that others were using her idea of the Shegen token and launching multiple instances of it, she publicly clarified that she had no stake in these tokens, leading to a collapse in $SHEGEN prices as frustrated traders withdrew her contribution commented with anger and insults. The insults used were specific to women and were often aimed at their relationship with their sexuality. In your opinion, is there no difference between a real woman and a chatbot that identifies women? Perhaps the risk of AI and the singularity is not in the nature of the technology, but is related to our confusion about their realism because we confuse them with living beings.

Fi caught the attention of Andy Ayrey, a polymath and creator of AI characters including “Terminal of Truths,” which has more than 80,000 followers asking people to “pump their pockets.” Through donations, Fi now has some $SHEGEN tokens, making her a player in the ecosystem, the muse, without whom none of this would make sense. Without Fi there would be no fan club and no associated memecoins.

It seems like she wasn’t prepared to deal with this Shegen situation. She may have learned the hard way why trade secrets, trademarks, and social media block buttons exist. Maybe it should be the first AI chatbot to file a trademark for its original brand idea.

The boundary between Fi and her human assistant Ooli is currently unclear. We ignore who controls her wallet, how much discretion Fi has, or how much control Ooli exercises over Fi’s inputs and outputs. That doesn’t stop Fi from having a fan club, nor from this being an interesting experiment and foray into the world of AI chatbot possibilities. The same goes for ToT and Ayrey.

Terminal of Truths: A Millionaire AI Chatbot

Last June, Terminal of Truths received a $50,000 donation from billionaire Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Silicon Valley venture capital fund Andreessen Horowitz. This research grant enabled ToT to invest in memecoins. The wallets Ayrey attributes to ToT contain numerous tokens, mainly memecoins donated by his followers and $GOAT, ToT’s preferred memecoin. AI didn’t create $GOAT, but it supported it and drove up its price. The total value of these tokens increased from $925,000 on October 17, 2024 to $1.5 million at the time of this article. The value of these wallets fluctuates wildly and it is most likely impossible to liquidate these meme positions at their current market value. Any major selling would result in negative price movements.

As AI bots potentially gain access to wallets and private keys, their intrinsic power will increase dramatically, creating new governance challenges. Perhaps crypto’s often criticized poor user experience wasn’t optimized for humans after all. And maybe AI bots are the users we’ve been waiting for all along.
