Frank Sinatra’s former Southern California home is on the market for .9 million

Frank Sinatra’s former Southern California home, used for dozens of television and film productions including “Mad Men” and “Dreamgirls,” has come on the market for $7.9 million.

The seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom mid-century modern home in the San Fernando Valley’s Chatsworth neighborhood was built in 1949 by William Pereira, who also designed Los Angeles International Airport.

Sellers Craig Knizek and Blair Chang of The Agency describe the 8,161-square-foot home as “one of the most filmed homes in America” and sits on 13 private acres with panoramic views of the Chatsworth Preserve.

“The Farralone isn’t just a home, it’s a screen star,” say viewers. “Don’t miss the chance to own a glittering piece of Hollywood with a storied past and a bright future.”

One of the home’s biggest selling points is the backyard, which features a 50-foot pool flanked by an L-shaped pergola. Elsewhere in the yard there are huge lawns with enough space for a vineyard and more houses.

Near the pool is a separate pavilion with a gym full of top-of-the-line equipment.

When Sinatra lived there, he got a head start on expanding the property to include additional homes, including a guest house with its own pool.

Just three years ago, the home was on the market for $21.5 million.

“While this offering has been overpriced for the past thirteen years, under new ownership it is finally ready to sell at fair market value,” the sellers said.

Jannik Sinner: WADA is appealing the decision that acquitted the world-ranked tennis player after he tested positive for a banned substance

Jannik Sinner: WADA is appealing the decision that acquitted the world-ranked tennis player after he tested positive for a banned substance

CNN

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) says it will appeal to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after an independent tribunal found that world number one tennis player Jannik Sinner was not at fault for testing positive for a banned substance twice was tested in March 2024.

The 23-year-old Sinner has so far avoided a ban from competition since the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced in August that he was not guilty despite testing positive for Clostebol, an anabolic steroid. Two samples taken eight days apart in March in Indian Wells showed low levels of the drug.

In a statement posted on social media in August, Sinner said the positive tests were due to “accidental contamination with Clostebol” from treatment by his physical therapist. The 2024 Australian Open winner also said his physiotherapist applied an over-the-counter spray to his own skin – not Sinner’s – to treat a small wound.

“His fitness trainer purchased a product that was available over the counter in every Italian pharmacy and gave it to Jannik’s physical therapist to treat a cut on the physical therapist’s finger,” Sinner’s statement said.

“Jannik didn’t know about it and his physiotherapist didn’t know he was using a product containing Clostebol. … The physical therapist treated Jannik without gloves and, in conjunction with various skin lesions on Jannik’s body, caused the unintentional contamination.”

An independent court convened by the ITIA accepted this explanation after consultation with experts and allowed Sinner to successfully appeal against the interim suspension, which applied after every positive test, the organization said in August.

But on Saturday, WADA said ITIA’s decision was “incorrect under current rules.” The authority is now seeking a ban “between one and two years” for the 23-year-old Italian.

WADA added in its statement that it “does not seek disqualification of any results, except those already imposed by the Tribunal of First Instance,” referring to the ITIA’s decision to award Sinner the prize money and ranking points he received had won, to escape Indian Wells, where he reached the semi-finals.

On the eve of the US Open in August, shortly after the positive tests were publicly announced, Sinner said he broke up with his physical therapist Giacomo Naldi and fitness trainer Umberto Ferrara about the incident.

He then won the US Open and claimed his second Grand Slam title of the year. When WADA announced its appeal on Saturday, he was in the round of 16 of the China Open, where he defeated Roman Safiullin.

Daylight saving time is ending soon. Here’s what you need to know:

Daylight saving time is ending soon. Here’s what you need to know:

Now that fall has officially arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s almost time to turn back the clocks and mentally prepare for the darkness that arrives in the early afternoon.

So get ready to release Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time, the unofficial soundtrack to the annual ritual of the end of daylight saving time. The return of standard time occurs in the fall and involves turning the clocks back one hour – earning it the humorous motto “falling back.”

It can be a confusing experience as people across most of the country move their clocks and try to adjust to a new schedule. Here’s what you need to know about the fall time change.

When does summer time end?

Daylight saving time ends on the first Sunday in November at 2 a.m. local time. For 2024 this is November 3rd. Put a reminder on your calendar to change any clocks that don’t change automatically. Many people find it helpful to change their clocks right before bed rather than the next morning. As you make calendar updates, plan for Sunday, March 9, to mark the start of Daylight Saving Time in 2025.

Standard time vs. daylight saving time

The Time.gov website displays official US time and time zone boundaries.

Time.gov screenshot by Amanda Kooser/CNET

Standardization of time has a long and complicated history in the United States. The growth of railroads in America sparked the creation of time zones in 1883. Daylight saving time was officially established in 1918, but alternated and was applied inconsistently across the country until the implementation of the Uniform Time Act in 1966. “Motivated by improvements in transportation, this law prescribes standard time within existing time zones and establishes a permanent system of uniform daylight saving time, including the dates and times for twice-yearly transitions,” the Bureau of Transportation Statistics said in a history of the time zones.

Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii observe standard time year-round. The rest of the country has to deal with the effects of the semi-annual time change. It’s not just your sleeping habits that can suffer. The change to daylight saving time has many effects on your health.

The specific dates for Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time may change each year. Daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. The National Institute of Standards and Technology crunched the numbers and reported that Daylight Saving Time is in effect for 238 days, or about 65% of the year. This may make daylight saving time seem more normal than standard time, but we’ll stick with historical terminology.

Will we ever get rid of the time change?

Time changes are controversial. Many people find the change difficult, especially when an hour is lost in the spring with daylight saving time. Here are ways to help you calm down after an hour of sleep. Proponents of daylight saving time say it saves energy during warmer months and provides longer “usable” daylight hours for outdoor activities. However, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine has called for a year-round standard time to best align with human circadian biology.

Politicians have made efforts to end the time change nationally, but nothing has yet been enacted into law and there is debate about whether daylight saving time or standard time would be better. The US Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act in 2022 – a bipartisan bill that would make daylight saving time permanent, but that’s about it. “This ritual of changing the time twice a year is stupid,” Senator Marco Rubio, a co-sponsor of the bill, said in 2023. Rubio continues to push the legislation, but there is no sign of progress in 2024.

Dealing with the fall time change

The “fallback” time change is usually considered the good time change because it seems like you are getting an extra hour of sleep. This only works if you can ignore your usual wake-up time and sleep in on Sunday.

Check out these tips to combat tiredness after a time change. Building good sleep habits shouldn’t be left to a change in timing. Work on maintaining a healthy sleep schedule throughout the year and the annoying clock changes won’t bother you as much. If Congress doesn’t get going, we’ll be stuck with jumping forward and retreating for the foreseeable future.

Democratic presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris used the word “freedom” 11 times in a campaign speech this week, emphasizing, as she does again and again, a woman’s “freedom to make decisions about her own body.”

According to ABC News and The New Yorker, it’s the latest example of Democrats trying to appropriate the word “freedom.” The New Yorker explains: “Democrats’ years-long effort to take back power is reaching a climax in this year’s presidential race.”

It really takes some courage for Democrats to try to turn their usual proposals into “freedom” not just on abortion and voting, but also on gun control, climate and LGBT issues. In reality, Democrats are aiming to restrict our First and Second Amendment rights and more.

CNN HOST KASIE HUNT SAYS HARRIS IS “REPUBLICAN” AND TRUMP IS “LIBERAL” IN THEIR ECONOMIC POLICIES

Harris has made “freedom” the theme of her campaign. She says the word often in her speeches. The song in their campaign is “Freedom” by Beyoncé. The word “freedom” appears 24 times in the topic section of her campaign website. In her first campaign video and in her speech at the Democratic National Convention, she emphasized freedom.

Harris and Walz’s campaign seeks to redefine language and lay claim to the word “freedom.” (Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)

“Many fundamental freedoms are at stake in this election,” Harris’ campaign website says. Harris and his Minnesota lieutenant governor, Tim Walz, “will always fight for the freedom to breathe clean air, drink clean water and live free from the pollution that is fueling the climate crisis,” their campaign website says.

The political section of Harris’s presidential campaign website makes no mention of our most important freedoms enshrined in the First Amendment – the “free exercise” of religion, “freedom of speech or of the press” (former President Donald Trump’s campaign did). Someone should tell Democrats that these are the top bill of rights for a reason.

Walz said he sees “no guarantee of free speech” when it comes to misinformation and hate speech. However, such speech is constitutionally protected, otherwise the government would be able to regulate what is acceptable speech and could suppress dissent or label information it doesn’t like as “misinformation.”

The better approach is to allow freedom of expression but have open debate and condemn hate speech. We saw the alternative: The Biden-Harris White House pressured Big Tech companies to censor Americans over their views on COVID-19. In 2019, Harris called on then-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to suspend Trump’s account.

If Harris wins the election, Americans likely won’t have the freedom to use correct pronouns. The Biden-Harris administration wants to make it a civil rights violation for someone to use scientifically accurate pronouns that conflict with the preferences of a gender-confusing person.

For Democrats, “reproductive freedom” is the freedom they most want to defend. The verbal forced marriage of “reproductivity” and “freedom” is another stretch. No matter how hard they try, reproduction, even through in vitro fertilization, cannot be separated from its many consequences – such as the conception of children. This is pure science.

In the presidential debate, Harris used the word “freedom” only in reference to abortion. “I will be a president who protects our fundamental rights and freedoms, including a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body and not have the government tell her what to do,” Harris said (she agrees). that the government tells you what to do). on a variety of other topics).

But the freedom to abort an unborn child is not real freedom. In a truly free society, one person cannot be free to take away another’s freedom. An unborn child is not a part of a woman’s body or property – it is an independent human being with its own rights. When a woman takes the life of an unborn child, she deprives her of the most basic of rights.

Trump in the game

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign website actually recognizes 1st Amendment freedoms. FILE: Trump greets the crowd during halftime of a game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers at Williams-Brice Stadium. (Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports)

Harris twists the word even further, saying she wants to defend “freedom of choice.” But that doesn’t apply to Democrats any more than it does to Republicans. Both sides want to enact election laws that favor their party. But Republicans want to make our election system more secure.

In fact, the Democrats have taken away the freedom of their own voters in this presidential election. It is the Democratic Party that ousted its incumbent, prevented a real primary and fought every independent challenger. The Democrats also did not give the Republicans freedom of choice. Democrats, along with other lawmakers, have made claims to bar Trump from the vote.

Harris says she will also “defend the freedom to openly love who you love.” The reality is that she will exercise parental rights.

Her first campaign video shows crowds waving Pride flags as Harris says, “We choose freedom.” But the LGBT community is anything but closed – Pride parades often feature half-naked adults in public in front of children .

Conservatives want the freedom to protect their children from ideologies that contradict their beliefs, including sexually explicit books that are inappropriate for children. Democrats mistakenly refer to these efforts as “book bans,” but by that logic, movie ratings are “movie bans” because young children are not allowed to see R-rated films.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE OPINIONS ON FOX NEWS

Under a Harris government, women will not be free. She will not defend women’s right to keep biological men out of their restrooms, locker rooms, sporting events, or sororities.

Harris would restrict the Second Amendment, yet her campaign puts gun control in the light of freedom: “As president, she will not stop fighting so that Americans have the freedom to live safely from gun violence in our schools, communities and places.” Adoration .”

If Harris wins the election, Americans likely won’t have the freedom to use correct pronouns. The Biden-Harris administration wants to make it a civil rights violation for someone to use scientifically accurate pronouns that conflict with the preferences of a gender-confusing person.

Harris’ promises of freedom and joy (another of her themes) sound as empty as former President Barack Obama’s campaign for “hope and change.” The Democrats want to impose more government control on Americans, including through expensive and ineffective economic and environmental policies.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Republicans also want clean air, but recognize that more environmental regulations cost Americans money in the form of higher energy, housing and other costs. Energy independence prevents funding of foreign authoritarian governments.

Yes, Democrats believe in the “freedoms” of abortion, LGBT existence, and voting without ID — but they don’t believe in First and Second Amendment rights, a woman’s right not to have men in women-only rooms , parental rights, etc. Energy independence.

The Minnesota Gophers’ best hope at Michigan could be former Wolverines recruit Darius Taylor

The Minnesota Gophers’ best hope at Michigan could be former Wolverines recruit Darius Taylor

“It all fell into place with just not playing at a high level,” Gophers coach PJ Fleck said of the Iowa game. “Whether it was coaching, or whether it was progress, or whether it was open people that we couldn’t get the ball to, or maybe it was a missed block here or there, we were out of sync in the game in the second half , which ultimately falls on me.”

“Darius is a very loyal kid,” said Kory Cioroch, Taylor’s high school coach. “The early attention and early relationships he built with Minnesota and its coaches, kids and staff were the final part of the decision. Michigan and Michigan State came late and didn’t show confidence in him early enough, and he didn’t like that. He wanted to go somewhere where he was loved.”

Taylor and the Gophers face a tough challenge against Michigan, the defending champions are coming off a 27-24 victory over USC. The Wolverines (3-1, 1-0) feature a strong defensive line led by massive tackle duo Mason Graham and preseason All-America Kenneth Grant. Michigan ranks 11th nationally with 76.5 rushing yards allowed per game.

“They’re outstanding up front,” Harbaugh said. “Their two interior designers are elite. Their defensive ends are elite. Their linebackers are exceptional on the run. … I have a lot of confidence in our guys at the top. We challenged them this week to take the ball away and do their job because at the end of the day that’s what matters. It’s just the attitude from the front.”

The Gophers average 117.3 yards rushing, which ranks 118th nationally. This is a significant decrease compared to previous seasons. Last year they averaged 157.5 (66th), in 2022 they averaged 207.5 (16th) and in 2021 they averaged 198.0 (27th).
