Did she just catch her landlord lying about not finding any mold?

A tenant went viral after she caught her boss allegedly lying about a suspicious growth in her closet.

Sheridan Ellis (@sheridanellis) recently posted a series of videos to her TikTok account, where she has almost 27,000 followers. In the first videos, she showed viewers the corresponding form and thought about what they should do. She then exposed her landlord for planning to lie to her about his findings.

As of Sunday morning, her most-viewed video detailing her plight had more than 2.7 million views.

Tenant finds worker lying

In a video, Ellis said they initially told her they would send a professional to test the “growth.” However, she wasn’t home when they arrived, so she thought about how she could follow their conversation from a distance.

“I was at work watching and recording with my dog camera as they made a plan of what to tell me so they wouldn’t lose their job,” she explained. After collecting this evidence, she said she went to Home Depot to purchase her own mold testing kits. In her opinion, this confirmed that it was indeed mold in her closet.

“I know I’m not a mold expert, but this doesn’t look like Pepper Jack or Gouda to me,” she said of her findings.

To make matters worse, Ellis said another tenant had a similar problem and was told the mold was just dust. “She lost $7,000 worth of things,” Ellis explained.

The tenant said that despite the evidence she collected (more on that below), her apartment still denied that she had mold. But not only did Ellis have video evidence of this, she also said she developed a rash that covered her neck and shoulders.

“I recorded everything. I have a whole album of things,” Ellis said. She encouraged viewers not to move into her apartment complex, the Ross + Peak Apartment in Dallas, Texas.

Wait, what did the tenant record?

In Ellis’ evidence video, which she said she shot with her dog camera, she caught three people in her apartment discussing what to tell her about the mold.

“I asked my apartment complex to test the mold in my HVAC cabinet that resulted from a leak that they never fixed,” she wrote in the text overlay. “I was told they didn’t find anything, so I checked my camera…”

In the recorded video, a woman who was not named appeared to suggest telling her the truth. But then another worker intervened.

“I wouldn’t even do that [do] all of that,” said the man. “I would just say… ‘The growth, the organic growth that we found, we cut out and removed.'”

He continued, “You guys are going to clean their air ducts or whatever.” At one point the man almost suggested calling the thing they found in the closet “mold,” but then he stumbled over his words and said, “Yes.” I preferred to call it “organic growth” because “none of us are scientists.”

In fact, he doubled down on this again towards the end of the video. He said telling the tenant, “Less is more.” The housing workers nodded in agreement.

In a follow-up video, Ellis showed viewers the shape in question. She considered why her apartment would lie to her about the mold and confirmed that workers had told her they found “organic growth” (instead of mold) in her closet. However, she said there was “so much mold and organic growth” that workers had to cut through an adjacent wall.

She also said the mold was allegedly located in a locked HVAC closet that only housing workers with a special key had access to.

“So, yeah, what would you do – just hypothetically?” she jokingly asked the audience.

What happens if there is mold in your home?

According to a Texas-based legal blog, tenants can receive compensation for damage caused to their home by mold. But the mold shouldn’t have gotten that far, the blog said. Because “the law states that landlords in Texas are required to eliminate conditions that “substantially impair the health and physical safety of a regular tenant.”

However, the law in question is somewhat questionable as to when the complex must remove the mold. It noted that landlords have a “reasonable” amount of time to fix the problem, although it appears Ellis’ videos documenting her predicament were taken over a long period of time. However, it generally said that mold problems should be addressed no later than seven days after a tenant’s first complaint.

Tenants like Ellis whose apartment complexes refuse to help have certain rights, according to the blog. For example, it was suggested that someone like Ellis should either terminate her lease, file a lawsuit, or ask a third party to fix the mold problem and then “deduct the cost of the repairs from your rent.” It also states that anyone experiencing health problems due to the mold should contact a personal injury attorney immediately.

Others weigh in

And based on the evidence Ellis had, viewers suggested she wait to pay rent until the issue was sorted out. Most viewers said she should let the matter be resolved in court.

“Please do not pay the rent directly to them, but go to your court and file a tenant’s claim. Your rent will be held in escrow directly with the court until the issue is resolved,” one woman suggested.

“This lawsuit is going to be epic,” said another.

“Sue them,” a third viewer echoed.

Other viewers noted that the management of her apartment also lied to her.

“Our apartment flooded last year due to the apartment’s negligence and I had to threaten lawyers and do a bad Google review to get out of our lease,” one person shared.

“This happened in my apartment where there was mold and I got so sick that I was ignited so violently with the gas,” another added.

The Daily Dot reached out to Ellis for TikTok comment. We contacted Ross + Peak Apartments via the online messaging portal.

Manchester United news: “Never a red card – that’s my opinion” – Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes spoke to BBC Match of the Day after his sending off: “I just wanted to come over and talk [do the interview] and be myself because my teammates deserve this for what they did in the game by playing with one less man. Especially because I was the man who was sent off, the one who let them down.

“The team showed a lot of character, a lot of resilience and a lot of fight. They tried. It wasn’t easy.”

About the red card: “Never a red card – that’s my opinion. I agree that it is a foul. The referee tried to tell me that as he saw it was clear contact with the studs, no. I didn’t touch it with the cleats or.” Even the foot, it was my ankle. It’s a clear foul.

“If he wants to give me a yellow because they go on the counter, then I agree. But more than that, no. That’s not the case.”

On the difficult game before the red card: “Yeah, I think we struggled a bit. We tried to force it a little bit, speed it up and play too fast. When they had the high line, we made mistakes on the ball and then got punished and things didn’t go our way.

“Then the red card makes it even worse. I have to appreciate all the efforts my teammates made to get back into the game, but that wasn’t possible. They showed great commitment and character, and that made me happy.”

Ryan Williams’ coming out party in Alabama is just the beginning

Ryan Williams’ coming out party in Alabama is just the beginning

Ryan Williams was already making a name for himself.

In three games, the 17-year-old freshman had scored four touchdowns and established himself as one of quarterback Jalen Milroe’s best options.

Then came Saturday evening. Then came his great 75-yard touchdown catch. Now the 6-foot-1 wideout has burst onto the scene with a game-changing play in the early game of the year at Bryant-Denny Stadium that is usually reserved for upperclassmen.

The play immediately went viral, a touchdown that changed the momentum and gave Alabama the lead for good in this wild showdown of superpowers. Williams’ catch-and-run saved the Crimson Tide from blowing a 28-point lead against their rivals.

Georgia had just scored with 2:31 left to take the lead, stunning the massive crowd of 100,077. Williams then supplied her with energy at lightning speed. In tight coverage, he turned to intercept a Milroe pass down the right sideline, then made an acrobatic pivot and sprinted past the defenders without slowing his stride. It showcased Williams’ wondrous athleticism.

LeBron James, Chris Paul and Donovan Mitchell have appeared on . It wasn’t just this one piece. A native of Saraland, Alabama, Williams caught six passes for 177 yards. In four college games, he rushed for 462 yards on 16 receptions. He averages an absurd 28.9 yards per catch, which makes the whole thing look easy. He appears to be the first 1,000-yard freshman receiver at Alabama since Amari Cooper in 2012.

Those are silly numbers for any receiver, especially a rookie who doesn’t turn 18 until February. That’s the scary thing about Williams. He’s just getting started. He’ll get better. He will have even more impact, be more dynamic in the open field and more precise in route running. Williams didn’t enroll until this summer, too late to be a contributing freshman, and was supposed to still be in high school. He graduated early and moved up to the Class of 2024.

“He’s one of the most mature kids I’ve ever recruited,” former Alabama coach Nick Saban said on ESPN before the game. Saban compared Williams to Cooper as a freshman – good company.

It was an unforgettable evening in Tuscaloosa, a match that exceeded the hype. In a rematch of last year’s SEC championship game, Alabama nearly landed an early knockout blow and surprisingly overwhelmed Georgia. Beck was shaky and Georgia’s normally dominant defense was unrecognizable. At one point it was 28:0 and at the start of the third quarter it was 30:7. Then the Bulldogs stormed back and briefly took the lead. Beck caught fire.

It didn’t last.

Milroe found Williams and the boy did the rest. This was his coming out party, a pretty loud introduction to the sports world.

Maybe in a few years we will remember this night for exactly this reason. He appears to be the next great Alabama receiver, following a long tradition. But based on his start and his good performance in the spotlight Saturday night, that could be his goal.

The $100,000 question

The UNLV situation, which saw quarterback Matthew Sluka leave the program after three games due to a dispute over name, image and likeness (NIL) compensation, will continue to repeat itself until real guidelines are established. Whichever side you choose, if you believe that after a hot start, Sluka wanted to take advantage of his situation, as the school claims, or that he was promised $100,000 and decided to run away when that agreement was broken became clear that something needs to change. By leaving the program after three games, Sluka retained his final year of eligibility.

To avoid such a situation, contracts are necessary. The only way to do that is to turn student-athletes into employees, something the NCAA has been fighting against for years. The current free-for-all system, where players change schools annually and now one leaves school due to a financial disagreement during the season, is not sustainable. It’s unhealthy. We’ll see more of this UNLV/Sluka mess in both college football and college basketball.

A must-see on television

Do yourself a favor and watch Boise State’s next game, next Saturday at home against Utah State. Ashton Jeanty will not disappoint. The junior running back is worth the time. He is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate and leads the nation in rushing yards with 845. He scored 13 touchdowns in four games and obliterated the defenses of Oregon and Washington State. The most impressive stat: Jeanty averages a first down (10.3 yards) on every carry.

Frances Bean, Kurt Cobain’s daughter, welcomes her first child with Riley Hawk

Frances Bean, Kurt Cobain’s daughter, welcomes her first child with Riley Hawk

Kurt Cobain’s daughter and Tony Hawk’s son have given birth to their first child together.

Frances Bean Cobain, the 32-year-old daughter of the late Nirvana frontman, confirmed in an Instagram post on Saturday that she has given birth to her husband Riley Hawk, the famous skateboarder’s 31-year-old son.

She shared several photos of the little boy, who was born on September 17, including one of him being held by his father. Cobain also posted the photo in an Instagram story, accompanied by the John Lennon song “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy).”

“Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk,” she wrote. “Welcome to the most beautiful son in the world. We love you more than anything.”

Frances Bean Cobain, left, with her mother Courtney Love in 2018 in Los Angeles.

Tony Hawk celebrated the news in an Instagram comment, writing, “My favorite grandson!” Harper Grohl, whose father is Nirvana alum Dave Grohl, also commented with hearts and teary, smiling emojis. “With all the love and energy in the whole world,” wrote REM frontman Michael Stipe, Frances Bean’s godfather.

Frances Bean Cobain, an artist and model, was the only child of her father and his wife Courtney Love. She confirmed her relationship with Hawk in a 2022 Instagram post in which she shared the “great joy” she experienced the previous year, and the two married in October 2023. She previously married musician Isaiah Silva in 2014 and filed for divorce in 2016.

Like his famous father, Hawk is also a professional skateboarder.

Frances Bean Cobain marries: Kurt Cobain’s daughter marries Riley Hawk, Tony Hawk’s son

Kurt Cobain died by suicide in 1994 when his daughter was 20 months old. In an Instagram post in April, she commemorated the 30th anniversary of his death and shared photos of their time together.

“I wish I could have known my father,” she wrote at the time. “I wish I knew the tone of his voice, how he liked his coffee, or what it felt like to sleep after a bedtime story. I always wondered if he caught tadpoles with me in the humid Washington summers, or if he smelled like Camel Lights and Strawberry Nesquik (his favorites, I’m told).”

“But there is also deep wisdom in understanding, on an accelerated path, how precious life is. He gave me a lesson about death that can only be gained through the LIVED experience of losing someone. It is the gift of knowing with certainty that when we love ourselves and those around us with compassion, openness, and grace, the more meaningful our time here inherently becomes.

Kurt Cobain recalled: Daughter Frances Bean writes about the 30th anniversary of his death

She added that before she was born, her father wrote her a letter that ended with the message: “Wherever you go or wherever I go, I will always be with you.”

“He has kept that promise because he is present in many ways,” she said. “Whether it’s listening to a song or through the hands we share, in those moments I get to spend a little time with my dad and he feels transcendent.”

In a 2019 interview on the RuPaul: What’s the Tee? podcast, Cobain shared that she felt guilty about inheriting money from her father.

“My relationship with money is different because I don’t earn it,” she said. “It’s almost like this big, huge loan that I’ll never get rid of. I have an almost alien relationship to it or guilt because it feels like money came from someone I’ve never met, let alone earned it myself.”

Awe-inspiring walks and miracle-seeking can improve health

Awe-inspiring walks and miracle-seeking can improve health

Dacher Keltner has made it his mission to fill our lives with more reverence.

He has spent the last two decades exploring awe, which he says is different from joy or fear, and how experiencing that awe can have positive effects on our bodies, our relationships with others, and how we see the world around us see us around and interact with her.

Keltner, a professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley and director of the Greater Good Science Center, recently chatted with us — Raj Punjabi and Noah Michelson, hosts of HuffPost’s “Am I Doing It Wrong?” podcast — about his work , particularly about why we should try to add more reverence to our lives and what will happen if we do.

“It’s amazing! It tells us so much about the development of the human nervous system,” Keltner, the author of “Awe: The New Science Of Everyday Wonder And How It Can Transform Your Life,” told us. “A region of the brain is deactivated [when we experience awe] — the default network mode. This is where all self-expression processes take place: I think about myself, about my time, my goals, my aspirations, my checklist. This calms during awe.”

Awe activates our vagus nerve. This is “the large bundle of nerves that starts at the top of the spinal cord and helps you look at people and say sounds,” Keltner explained, and it also “slows our heartbeat, helps with digestion, and opens our bodies to things bigger than.” we.” .”

“Awe also cools down the inflammatory process,” Keltner said his studies have shown. “It’s part of your immune system that fights disease, and we want it to be cooler, not always hot.”

So how do we experience more awe? Keltner, who served as a scientific advisor behind Pixar’s “Inside Out,” said it could be as simple as an “awe walk,” as he calls it.

He and several of his colleagues studied this experience to learn more about awe and what happens when we feel it.

″[The study involved] So people who were 75 years old or older start to worry and become depressed about the end of their life [and you’re experiencing] more body pain,” Keltner said. “The control condition – they went for a walk once a week. In our state of “awe-inspiring walk” we said, “You know, while you’re walking, go to a place where you might feel a little childlike wonder, and look around – look at the little things and look at the big things and just follow that sense of mystery and wonder.’ That’s all we asked of them.”

Keltner explained that feeling awe and wonder on a walk (or anywhere else) can be as simple as stopping and noticing the world around us – from something seemingly small like a newly bloomed flower to something as large as you Sunset that stretches across the entire sky. Other sources of awe include what he calls “moral beauty” – experiencing other people’s kindness, goodness, or generosity – or listening to music, looking at art, and thinking about big ideas, all of which can occur during a ” “Awe walk” happens.

Keltner said they found “three really cool things” when they compared the control group’s results to the “Awe Walk” group.

“In eight weeks [of the study], [the ‘awe walk’ group] began to feel more and more awe. So when we look for awe, we find more of it, which I think is really important. … These people – 75 years old or older – experienced less pain and suffering over time. Chronic pain and pain as we age are serious. It just shocks the consciousness, and here was a little technique that gave them some peace of mind.”

The scientists also documented what Keltner calls “the disappearance of the self.”

“Every week we had [the study participants] Take a photo of yourself and what we found was: [those in the study who were going on the awe walk] Start moving to the side [of the] Photo. They somehow disappear! What that tells us is their awareness: They’re not thinking about, “Okay, there’s my face and I’m going to get it perfectly in the photo.” They’re more interested in the larger scene that they’re a part of, and they’re losing out on it the overview of ourselves, and that’s important – that’s important for focusing our attention on things outside of ourselves.”

Ultimately, Keltner argues that the more awe and wonder people of all ages experience, the better off they will be.

“It [creates] “An amazing cascade of physiology that we can find almost every day and that is very good for us,” he told us.

Hollywood’s biggest support for Donald Trump may be this failed DC superhero

Hollywood’s biggest support for Donald Trump may be this failed DC superhero

If the 2024 presidential election is decided by A-list supporters, then Donald Trump Maybe he would like to start writing his concession speech now. A roundup of celebrities who have publicly voted for a candidate reads like the Oscars front row when it comes to supporting the Democratic nominee and current vice president Kamala Harris. Meanwhile, Trump’s biggest Hollywood supporter (so far) announced Saturday, but even that support felt lukewarm and hollow.

Zachary LeviGiven his apparent skepticism about life-saving vaccines, his criticism of the SAG-AFTRA strike, and his loud and proud support of a credibly accused sex offender (among other issues), his politics have threatened to overshadow his work as an actor for years. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Meanwhile, his most recent outing as DC superhero Shazam was a huge box office bomb, a failure that Levi seemed to attribute to his fellow DC hero Dwayne Johnson and the studio’s marketing team.

When RFK Jr. – whom Levi called “the best we’ve had in a long time” – dropped out of the presidential race, the feed The actor was clearly at a crossroads. Finally in 2020 he tweeted, “I am not a fan or supporter of Trump and find his behavior vulgar, callous, narcissistic and lacking in empathy.”

But in a time when… JD Vance Calling Donald Trump “America’s Hitler” and then becoming his choice for vice president is apparently all out of the question. And after RFK Jr. was out, Levi joined (checks notes) Roseanne Barr, Hulk Hoganand fellow flop star Jon Voight in assisting the convicted fraudster.

But unlike the other supporters, Levi’s support was half-hearted at best. Displayed during a Saturday event with RFK, Jr. and former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbardit was hardly an intimate hug.

A video from the event, a rally in Dearborn, Michigan billed as part of Team Trump’s Reclaim America Tour, tells the story. Levi jokingly referred to himself as “Shazam” and said, “For a long time I thought, ‘Man, I really want to find a politician who represents all the things that I want and that I want to see in a presidential candidate.’ .’ And this year I found Bobby Kennedy and I thought, ‘Man, this guy is it.’ He’s crazy.’ And in a perfect world, whatever that would be, I might have voted for Bobby.”

“But we don’t live in a perfect world,” Levi continued. “In fact, we live in a very broken country, we live in a country that has been hijacked by many people who want to take this place far away from the cliff. And we want to stop that, right?”

“We are here to make sure we take this country back, we will make it great again, we will make it healthy again,” Levi said on stage. “And so I stand with Bobby, and I stand with Tulsi, and I stand with everyone else who stands with President Trump.”

“Because I believe that of the two options we have, and we only have two, Donald Trump is the man who can get us there. And he will get us there because he will have the backing and the support and the wisdom and the knowledge and the fight that is there in Robert Kennedy Jr. and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.”

Before he began his remarks, Levi Bachman listened to Turner Overdrive’s 1973 song “Takin’ Care Of Business.” But for his next performance, organizers might consider another classic from that era: Stephen Stills’ Folk-rock classic “Love the One You’re With.”

Ja’Marr Chase is glad his “BS” contract is up (so are the Bengals)

Ja’Marr Chase is glad his “BS” contract is up (so are the Bengals)

The drama between the Bengals and receiver Ja’Marr Chase is over. And that’s good news for the Bengals.

First, Chase is once again fully committed to his team, even though he reportedly believes the team wasn’t honest with him about whether he would get a new contract this year.

“All the nonsense that happened this offseason and before the season, I’m just glad it’s over” Chase said Thursday, via Ben Baby of ESPN.com. “I’m finally playing ball and having fun with the boys. That’s the most important thing for me.”

Second, the Bengals will acquire Chase’s services in 2024 for just $4.8 million. Even though it will cost them more APY when he presumably signs a new contract in 2024, it doesn’t change the fact that they paid less than $5 million for one of the NFL’s best receivers for his fourth season.

Chase didn’t last out of training camp because he would have lost a $3.8 million roster bonus after three days. Ultimately, he considered not playing again in Week 1. He decided to join his teammates.

He is scheduled to make $21.8 million in 2025, the option year of his 2021 rookie deal. He could still turn down her best offer next year.

This year, we’re told the Bengals ultimately offered Chase a deal with a new-money average of $35 million per year, matching Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson. We were also told that the structure of the offer was not good.

Whether Chase signs in 2025 will largely depend on whether the team builds a better structure. Still, for now, the Bengals have managed to delay Chase’s massive raise and keep him in the first round for the designated amount of his rookie contract.
